Could you please draw Esteban as 5B and Doña Paloma as A5 in the same picture? (I love how they just have some enemies to lovers vibes! Lols both just deserve good things! Poor Esteban just having a lotta angst in the show and all. Maybe Elena set em up on blind date or something? And they’re like flustered but annoyed ish).

The story was inspired by both the amazing writers @cartoonfangirl1218 and @Lauraschiller.

Despite years of trying to hide their true past, Esteban and Hortensia know more about each other than the other can guess.

When Esteban helped Shuriki to invade, Dona just came to the city to work after her family had lost everything in the flood. She was still an assistant and they constantly quarreled. But the spark soon grew into an affair. When Shuriki found out, Esteban broke up with Dona to protect her. His family’s magical portrait is under a constant threat by Shuriki and he cannot bear giving the Sorceress Queen even more power over him.

Dona emerses herself in gossip and shopping as she rises in rank and money and her rivalry with Esteban becomes harsher and harsher.

During their bet about Naomi’s Quinceanera  she could not stop her curiosity and watched Esteban and Naomi practicing dancing. She knows that there is no romance between the Chancellor and the young Council Member, but Dona cannot stop the sudden jealousy. If things had worked out differently, she could have been the one to dance at the ball with Esteban now.

The party turns into a personal fiasco as Esteban braggs with Naomi’s success and a hurt Dona flirts with Julio out of revenge.

When Esteban runs away from his banishment with Ash, Dona meets them in the forest and accuses him that he always runs away from his problems.

They get in a big argument that finally brings the burried feelings to the light and at Elena’s coronation they are at the start of a second chance.

What r ur fav EoA ship?

Thanks for the ask! Here are some ships that I like :)

Eleteo (Elena x Mateo) because they always support each other and are there for one another. Elena contributed a lot to Mateo’s growth by encouraging him about his magic, and Mateo supports Elena by trusting her decisions and being by her side. I liked them from the first time they met and I could definitely see some romance happening between them in the future!

Jasabel (James x Isabel) because the dancing scene at coronation day was cute.

Esteoma (Esteban x Doña Paloma): I could see something developing between them while they served under Shuriki’s reign - like We’re holding up the economy together because Shuriki doesn’t care about it and This is only supposed to be a business relationship but I’m kind of having feelings for you. I enjoyed their interactions during The Incredible Shrinking Royals where they teamed up because they feel left out. Also the scene where Esteban says that he hates surprises and then Doña Paloma yells, “surprise” and Esteban says, “case in point”. I’m not really sure why I ship these two since they both lowkey can’t stand the other but I guess I just like their dynamic.

Teen!Esteban x Naomi: I really like their dynamic in the show, they are consistently hilarious when they interact! Don’t know if it’s just me but sometimes I forget that Esteban is actually in his fifties (what with him always hanging around with the teenage main cast) and that sort of makes the ship personally uncomfortable for me with the canon ages. I think that teen!Esteomi would be cool because it would be a similar relationship to that of canon but with no large age gap. You also can decide on the circumstances of the AU and why they are the same age (maybe it was Esteban who got trapped in the amulet for instance).

Rafictor (Rafa x Victor): ok so this is more of a crack ship since they never met in canon as far as I know but I feel like these two have potential together. They are both two awesome single parents who care deeply about their children and I don’t think it’s ever too late to fall in love/get married. I also think there might be some tension in the beginning (with Victor having joined Shuriki and indirectly causing Alacazar to leave) and it would be interesting to see them work through it.

I probably have some more that I’m forgetting but this is all I have for now.

More feelings on Elena of Avalor ships

Well, I’ve been working on my next headcanons post, but as it seems, it’s getting really away from me, both in terms of length and in terms of inherent darkness.

I apologize for that in advance, given how those headcanons will adress two beloved characters, one who’s a focal point of the series, and another who’s a more secondary but still relevant character. 

But in the meantime, I realized I forgot to share my feelings on some Elena of Avalor ships, so here they are.

Again, my feelings on them are divided by categories.

Changes of stance since the last time

Naomi ships - Well... I said earlier that I didn’t really ship her with anyone, but I recently changed my mind after reading a wonderful oneshot by @pizzansunshine. She portrayed both of them so well and in character that I really warmed to the ship, and only warmed even more to it after reading more stuff about them, which sadly doesn’t seem plentiful. 

Hopefully that will change soon! 

In the meantime, the SS Alonsaomi has one more passenger!

New ships

Fairly-invested-in tier

Manuelentina (Princess Valentina/Manuel) - Again, @pizzansunshine can explain why they work better than me... but to sum things up, they basically look like they really mesh well together and have a close bond. That’s all I really have to say about it. 

Not-really-invested-in-but-it-looks-like-it-could-be-cute tier

Esteoma (Esteban/Doña Paloma) - 

I’ll be clear. I don’t feel Esteban is enough at peace with himself to be open to a romantic relationship. Mind you, with this I mean that I don’t think Esteban himself is open to the idea of a romantic relationship, not that I am not open to him having one!

At his current state (or at least, the state I last saw him in) I’d say he won’t open himself to a romantic relationship.

But once he’s more at peace with himself (which will probably only happen after he fesses up to what he did) I could see a relationship between him and Doña Paloma working. 

Crackship-that-still-sort-of-looks-like-it-could-work tier

Fiero/Prisma (from Sofia the First) - I promise you, I’m not on any drugs! Though ultimately that only makes things more confusing, because I’m not entirely sure where this pairing came from, much less why I even had the idea of shipping Fiero with anyone. 

At any rate, this ship would depend a lot on whether Fiero is redeemable (and if you want to share your thoughts on that, feel free to!). 

Personally, after what I came up with about him for my headcanons on Alacazar, some musings I made for my headcanons about him, and the realization that more evil characters got redeemed in other works of fiction, I feel there may be a minuscule, but present amount of potential for redemption in him. It would almost certainly involve a special set of circumstances and take quite some time, but I’d say it could happen. 

As for Prisma... well, I can’t speak much about her, but in short, I feel like she and Fiero would be a ‘birds of a feather’ sort of ship. To those who are wondering about the age difference... well, I confess I looked at personality similarities first, but given we don’t know Prisma’s age in canon (as far as I know, at least) I’d say she could be about Fiero’s age (i.e. in her 130s for my headcanons) and just be so immature that she looks like she’s way younger. 

And I’m gonna shut up before anyone gives me the side-eye about shipping these two (probably too late)...

Characters I don’t ship with anyone

Shuriki - She may be the only character in the whole series who will be in this category (though from what I’ve seen of him, Cruz is a close second). 

To be short and to the point, I don’t ship her with anyone because I don’t think she’s capable of feeling anything resembling love or that she has the capacity to ever develop such a feeling in the future. 

She may have had it once (and that’s a VERY BIG may), but I don’t think she currently has it or that she will ever develop before she leaves once and for all.

The dance scenes were fun to edit, but Hortensia's hair there is a very stubborn. XD And the extra glow in the scepter scene is a new effect in DaVinci Resolve for me that FINALLY worked.

"Power" here is interpreted as both attraction and magical power without an actual love spell thrown in the mix.

Hello! Thank you so much for the ask! I’m really sorry it took me such a long time to reply!

I’ll admit I don’t have many thoughts beyond the ones I’ve already shared. Anyway, the thing I love the most about them is how much potential their backstory has. They were the main people in the whole kingdom who kept Avalor’s greatness alive during Shuriki’s reign, so I can imagine them working a lot together and maybe Esteban even told Doña Paloma about the life in Avalor before Shuriki (because I believe she can’t be older than 45 years old? She looks in her mid thirties for me. Maybe late thirties).

I’d love to see more of their backstory in the show, maybe not as flashbacks, but just references would’ve been great. They seem to arrange the Feast of Friendship together, so I’m sure they share lots of memories regarding this event (although I don’t remember if it was a thing during Shuriki’s reign? Anyway, this is not the only event in the whole kingdom, so they still could work together on the other ones)

I also would love to see more of Doña Paloma’s thoughts regarding Esteban’s betrayal in season 3. They got a bit softer to each other after “All Kingdoms Fair”, and she was very happy, looking at Esteban at Elena’s coronation, so I just want to know what she thought and whether it was connected with her wish to become a chancellor somehow.

Basically, I think they both respect and maybe even admire each other at some points, but also, they both are extremely ambitious people, so they try to prove they handle their duties better than one another. And it kinda explains my thought of them being close during Shuriki’s reign, but not getting soft enough to each other. They’re simply competitive.
