Some new designs, some old designs, and some mixtures of the two. Been pretty productive recently.
All these little treats are currently for sale in the Yorkshire Craft Centre at Bradford College.

With my stamping enthusiasm I realised I should probably get into gear and finish off the earrings my Mum's been asking for for ages! So here they are with a lovely felt mount and a hand stamped label :)
With everything having been so manic, I've been a rubbish blogger, and in trying to catch up have probably missed out lots of interesting things. My graduate exhibition is not one of those things. I'm so happy with the way everything turned out - really pleased I went with a grey block rather than a frame, really happy I framed the Cycle Path print, really pleased with the way that a plinth changes a lot.
So very pleased, but also rather sad that it means it's the end of uni life. Now for being a proper person....
As well as the 9 pieces in the postcard series I decided to include the cycle path piece to my exhibition. Although I spent nowhere near as much time on it, and it's really more fine art rather than applied art, I felt that it was a really important part of my journey towards having found something that I really love making. It was the piece that helped me realise that composition is enough. The content can be any old crap, but if the composition is right, it'll draw people in.
Putting up the exhibition was a little tricky. Things just don't look the same as they do in your head and I should have learnt this by now. Oh well.
My pieces looked so lost on the wall space I'd been given so some rethinking had to be done - spent an afternoon sat outside measuring a new border size for them to sit within. So glad I spent so much time measuring it all out, I'm really pleased with how it turned out.
It's been a crazy few weeks. My portfolio took shape, and my pieces got finished. Here they are, waiting for the decision of which will go where...
I'm so happy with the way I've spent my time this term, it's been so productive. It's left me rather disappointed, as there are still so many things I want to make. The workshops in college make things so easy, so now that I can't use them things are going to get tricky. But then I suppose this is part of the test ahead.
So I put together the pieces to go onto the background I'd already made, and it looks lovely on its own.
Everyone was saying they should be wearable 'that'd make such a lovely brooch', and 'you could make an amazing collection of pendants and earrings with those ideas too!'.
The thing is, I know. But there's no time. I found what I wanted to do and what made me happy about a year later than hoped and now I've run out of time. It makes me so annoyed to think about all the things I could have made and where I could be right now if I'd had these ideas last year.
Don't make jewellery they said, don't force it into wearables they said. And now I'm going to take my collection to New Designers, and I'm going to look like someone who didn't use their initiative. Whereas actually I've got ideas for jewellery and clothing and accessories, all on top of wanting to continue making the decorative compositions that these ideas came from.
Then I thought I might go for a bit of this! Love this piece all of a sudden, been trying to work out what to do with this background for weeks!!
