You were drunk. He could tell from the way you giggled at the floor tiles like they were telling you jokes.
Grayson sighed, arms crossed, standing in the doorway of your bedroom. “You’re hopeless.”
You blinked up at him, a slow, tipsy smile stretching your lips. “Mmm… Grayson Dolan in my room. Scandalous.”
He scoffed, walking over. “You couldn’t even find your own keys. Be quiet.”
“Bossy,” you teased, flopping backward onto your bed like gravity had just remembered it existed. You were in a mess of mismatched clothes and makeup smudged under your eyes, but somehow, that smile — the lazy, honest one — made you look… different.
Softer.
He tugged the blanket up over your legs, muttering, “You’re lucky I don’t let people sleep on sidewalks.”
“I’m lucky,” you echoed sleepily, eyes fluttering half-shut. “Grayson…?”
“What?” he replied, low.
You opened one eye. “Can you stay?”
He hesitated.
You tilted your head, grinning like you held the best secret in the world. “You’re warm. Big and warm. Cuddle me.”
“Absolutely not.”
“Please?” you whispered.
He ran a hand through his hair, jaw clenched like he was fighting some internal war. “You hate me.”
“I don’t,” you murmured, voice small. “I don’t think I ever did. I just liked making you mad.”
He stared at you — breath slower, like the moment had shifted. There was something about the way you looked at him now, curled up under the covers, soft and open, not fighting, not biting back. Just you.
“Move over,” he said finally, crawling onto the bed, laying stiffly next to you.
But you didn’t hesitate. You tucked yourself against his chest like it was second nature. Like your body had known him longer than your mouth let on.
Grayson’s arm settled around you, hesitant at first, then firmer. Protective. Quiet.
“You smell good,” you mumbled.
“Shut up and sleep.”
You did — but not before whispering into the darkness, “You’re not so bad, Dolan.”
And he didn’t reply. Not because he didn’t want to — but because in that exact moment, feeling you breathe softly against him, he realized:

okay so y’all know how when you have a surgery, you can’t eat for a certain amount of time before hand?
why do I feel like if you were close with the twins (besties, dating etc,), the day before you’re surgery they would bring you to all of your favorite food places and fast food joints and buy you all of your fav foods and you three would eat and stuff yourselves up until the exact minute in which you had to stop eating just bc they wouldn’t want you to starve during the period of time that you couldn’t eat before the surgery.....
