After their encounter in the back room, Piers probably should have expected getting this sort of response to telling Leon (mostly jokingly) that he’d been up for days working on his next EP.
His self-care habits are still what most people would probably consider more like self-neglect, but he is putting in a little more conscious effort. Going to bed before the sun comes up (even if he still sleeps in half the day afterwards), making himself eat proper meals at least sporadically. He’s not sure he likes the new feeling of knowing somebody’s worrying about him, or that it’s Leon specifically who’s made him and his disfunctions a concern, but it at least makes him feel too guilty to give Leon more of a reason to.
TXT >> Leon: didnt mean that literally, dw.
From an outside perspective, Piers’s good-busy and running himself ragged-busy look pretty similar, but this sort of holing up in his room and shutting out everything but the task at hand is the good kind, for him. Meditative in a way.
When he’s actually making progress, that is.
Despite the ache in his fingers, pages in his notebook full of scratched out lyrics and a now-empty pack of cigarettes, Piers has very little to show for his work. Marnie gave up on trying to help after chorus rewrite number 23, and even his Obstagoon who can tolerate the worst of his creative moods has gotten tired of listening to him replaying and revising.
After day three of not making a dent in the creative wall he’s hit, Piers is finally desperate enough to get over himself and actually take Leon up on his offer to give his work-in-progress a listen. Hard to tell if he was being serious when he seems to be enthusiastic about everything, but he seemed pretty genuinely enthused about it. Leon would probably be nice about it if it’s no good, if nothing else.
Piers types, deletes, retypes, and stares up at the ceiling debating it for a solid two minutes before deciding, fuck it, why not.
TXT >> Leon: sort of stuck right now actually TXT >> Leon: would you mind giving a wip a quick listen. just need a second opinion on it, its fine if yr busy its just been driving me up the wall
