Review of Double S 301′s “Eternal S”
Okay, so I hardly ever listen to Japanese songs, not even SS501′s ones. I haven’t found the ‘colour’ I like in the ones I’ve heard so far, except for a few songs from anime soundtracks. But I was on a SS501 withdrawal, having burnt through the Eternal 5 songs by having them on repeat for weeks, so when I checked out the video for “Fraction”, I realized I could learn to like their Japanese songs. And I was right. Here are my thoughts on their new(-ish) Japanese mini album, “Eternal S”.
I read in a review somewhere that apparently their Japanese pronunciation is weird here, and I can totally hear that. There seems to be something off about the way they sing, but the tune isn’t bad. I can’t really detect Meghan Trainor’s contribution to the writing, though.
My favourite from this record! It’s so SS501, and kind of similar to “Pain” with a more heart-warming feel to it. The video is jjang too; don’t mind my noob Korean! I had this one on repeat since I heard it; it’s what made me decide to give this record a try, actually.
I don’t even mind their strange English verse(s), like I did with “Pain”! I find it kind of cute. ^_^
I’d give this one a 4.5/5.
I apologize to any die-hard Triple S for the upcoming paragraph; I can’t help myself.
“From dusk to down!” is what I hear, and it enrages me to a point where I can’t think straight and I start seeing red. Not kidding. I have to change the track before I get to this verse, or else I will probably end up breaking something.
Haven’t heard this song enough times to judge it music-wise.
So. Damn. Good. The phrases “baby, you’re mine” and “nanimonai” are like a permanent addition to my thoughts nowadays. I didn’t realize I liked this song until I kept hearing the aforementioned phrases in my head all the damn time; while studying, in the shower, during exams and what not!
When I heard it the first few times (I had the whole record on repeat, in order of track), I was really surprised to find a track I liked other than Fraction. It turned out to be this one! It’s so sweet, and just makes me feel the SS501 feels.
At first I thought it was called “Never Ending Story”... which I hope SS501 is! Too cheesy? Yeah. Heh.
I know I haven’t given any of them 5/5, but that’s reserved for really special tracks, like “Let Me Be the One”, “Until Forever”, and “All My Love”. See? Got a Japanese track in my top SS501 music list!
Anyway, I’m definitely hooked to their Japanese tracks, and am really looking forward to more music from Double S 301 / Double S 401 / SS501, in whichever language they sing!
