@etgloria sent: Humanity // If they're asked what 'humanity' means to them and how they would describe it, what would they answer? Do they love or hate humans? (For Elysia)
Headcanons for muses with a difficult past
Humanity is the most beautiful existence in the world to Elysia.
They are her purpose, they are her everything, they are what she can never be, they are what she wishes she could be, they are what she will act to save across universes and worlds even if the price is herself.
She loves humans more than herself, more than anything else in the multiverse itself.
Humanity is defined by their unique 'egos'. Their selves.
Who they are as a person, developed over the course of their century or so long existence, changed by their experiences. Where they're born, their environment, their society, their culture, the people they meet, and a fundamental personality they have from birth.
There will never be a human who is exactly the same as another. And through their differences as well as similarities, humanity can conflict. But just as much as it can lead them to killing each other, it can lead them to unite together.
Every human has different capabilities, born of them being their own unique person, and leading them to do things only they could do in their own way.
And thus, when humanity unites, it is the most wonderful sight to behold. Their tenacity, their creativity, their innovation, and more. The determination to succeed at whatever they put their minds to, together. And all of them playing their role according to the capabilities they are uniquely able to do in their way.
In times of strife and peril, all of these incredibly different people are able to come together in spite of everything to triumph over even the worst things imaginable.
They are everything she wishes she could be. She, who in her eyes, is close to being human, but can never truly be a human. She has existed in such a way that what she fundamentally is forever is marked by it. She can only try to be as close to them as possible, but cannot truly become a human.
And thus, she will protect them until her last breath. She has witnessed their fall so many times, but seen them endeavor until the end. She will watch them until the end, do all she can as an eternal 'outsider' to them to enable them to continue striving forward.
Humans aren't perfect. But it is their imperfection that makes them so beautiful. Their imperfect egos, their talents, their weaknesses, their anger, sadness, fear, envy, despair, hope, happiness, excitement, love...
The human experience is imperfect, filled with turmoil and joy, unique between each and every human, but ultimately allows just as much unity as it does conflict between humans.
This is what makes someone human. This is what makes humans so worth protecting to Elysia. And this is the belief that has been carved upon her very being, that drives her throughout everything she does, and will continue to for so long as she exists.
And unbeknownst to her, this is what makes her 'the most flawless human' in her own right.
She... is flawlessly flawed. She is perfectly imperfect. She is multifaceted, uniquely herself... and so full of love to give.
Is that... not the essence of what makes one 'human'?
Perhaps, someday, she will come to understand herself, as much as she understands humans.
