‘ a-h-h! i didn’t ... see you there. ’
she keeps her voice low, quiet, something of embarrassment. she’d been lost in photographing the way of the wild, the sway of green leaves in the rising wind, goosebumps prickling along her skin. she hadn’t expected to want to get closer, drawn into nature for some nearly arbitrary reason, a call to arms that ached in the hollows of her bones.
‘ are you alright? when i take pictures i ... get lost in thought, you see. ’
her skin blossoms red, and she looks away from the stranger she’d bumped into, toward the darkening horizon. it was painted with a strange mixture of violet and orange, reds and a soft blue, trying its best to escape the encroaching night. no such luck. the thought chilled her, deepened the goosebumps, and she suddenly felt very cold and alone.
