it was an amazing episode. so good. i loved everything that happened. and alitar. she’s the perfect villain.

The scene between Altair and Selesia was... very uncomfortable to say the least with how unexpectedly it happened. But goddamn, she is definitely grade-A villain material with how threateningly she was this whole episode.

         Clang—shiiiiing!

Blade against blade, hand against hilt; sweat rolls down her cheek as a demure figure shows strength unprecedented. How was it that the dagger-blade could match—no, not match, but surpass—her rapier’s blow-for-blow? The princess’s feet drag & skid the ground as she gave all her might not only to stay on her feet, but block what would be the next strike, again and again. The longer their fight went, the more it felt less like a battle and became more akin to survival as the feeling of death, it’s presence, and the end embodied each-for-each. There was no room for error, no room for failure, no room to admit defeat even... as that would make the next one the killing blow; something precedent in every single strike that came before and since.

Her aim was to kill, but why? They never met before tonight, and Selesia asked for nothing more than for her to ‘ take her hand ’, yet something was wrong, truly wrong about all of this. There was a stench that reeked of manipulation, deception, and the very things that were asked of her to accept blindly when she came to this world herself. In the air, it had ‘ her ’ mark all over it, but the question still remains: in what way had this one come to this? What had she told her about this world that made this the only conclusion, or was it a flaw that was written into her like the rest of them that made this her only option?

Really, what other option did she have either? After all, she was far too risky herself, and true to that characteristic; she remains adamant in her stance, just as had before.

Oh, she definitely wasn’t going to let THAT one slide by! It seemed like it was always that something in that damn character description he wrote to give him an ‘ excuse ’ to justify another reason why he had to get in her way... and the problem was, he was truly in the right. Matsubara knew she had been the “too curious-type” for her own good, but he also had to have known how futile it was to reason with the girl once her mind has been made up. He wrote that in too in her character, and he now had to pay the consequences for it.

Besides, how bad could it really be?

Which would make YOU just as bad, if not worse, as the rest of them if it turns out you are right! And, if memory serves me right, YOU seemed pretty happy yourself, so I wouldn’t try and talk! ❜

      Selesia’s entrance does not go unheralded, attention drawn away from her work for a moment, before focusing once more on the streams of information before her. It had not been a one-sided effort, their work in the world around them searching for any signs of new Creations; everyone was kept busy in their own and a setting she was familiar with was soothing to her.

      ‘ Is there something that you wish to discuss, Selesia? ’

There was a sigh, then silence; under no pretenses, the burden she carried was clearly there when the friendlier face gave way to reveal a colder, sterner look to her. Not one of solemn distance, but of an intimate pain that had been worn thin as Selesia held ‘ too much ’ of a compassionate side to ignore it any longer. By now, they had all already, in their own ways, accepted the truth, their existences, as well as the ‘ why ’ of their fight... and, ordinarily, that be enough for anyone: but not for them, not for herself especially. The princess, one to lead her nation, also had the responsibility to uphold it, and in so doing, she had to be aware of what the borders were—particularly when they blurred. What once could be their enemy today, could very well be their ally tomorrow. The more she thought on it, the more she had to wonder:

Was their enemy truly irredeemable?

     HIS ENTIRE BEING

               seizes up, eyes wide, hands grasping for dark chunks of hair. He can’t breathe. He can’t breathe. He can’t breathe. The only thing that’s solid and real is the voice of the woman that has him backed into a corner. She commands his attention, but he can’t believe what he’s been told. He doesn’t want to believe it! If it’s real, then that means every time he’s been hurt, every time he’s been ignored, every time he’s found himself back in a hospital room, wondering what the hell he was doing there — that, and Rei, and Asuka, and Misato, and his father — those are all just part of someone’s sick fantasy!

               ❝ But I can’t! ❞ Shinji spits, but he has nowhere to go from this spot where he’s been pinned, so he can’t do much more than cower away from her as she towers over him. ❝ I can’t believe any of that! Otherwise, it means that none of my experiences even mattered! It was all just — it was all just — ! ❞

Well, there he goes again. The frightful always find it easy to remain fretful; to deny the truth was easier than to admit to it. Selesia understood that and, had she been born a different life—a different description of her character, maybe she would have found herself believing in the same illusion, the fantasy: the easy way out. But, while ignorance may have once been bliss, she could not ( and would not ) allow for to remain either... even if the boy was afraid to make the step over in knowing; that all-too-easy-to-embrace fantasy had to depart if they were to even have a chance at changing anything. In hopes that they would not only save this world ( as well as all of theirs ), but perhaps save themselves too.

❛ You just want to quit then, right? To run away from it? ❜ Selesia snapped back; there wasn’t an easier way to say it, nor a way she could temper her tone without the boy falling in deep again... so, she must continue. ❛ Sure, why not? This is all a bad dream and you can still go on, waking up in the morning as the hero of your own story where I suppose you can keep going, believing you are fine as you keep walking blind, remaining oblivious all while the world burns! I mean, none of this matters at all, and no one but you mattered! It is easier than acknowledging what’s really in front of you—isn’t it? ❜

❛ ———I just need you to listen, ❜ Crystal-blue; that was the color which her eyes shone midst staring at the boy’s duller hue... somewhere, a metaphor or some kind of allegory writ by fate could be taken from all this, as for while blue-blood flowed through her; the two couldn’t be more similar in circumstance: they were the strange & stranger, lost in a world not either of theirs. Now, if only he could see that and stop panicking so fiercely ( though probably not helping any that Selesia had him pinned in a corner, more or less ). ❛ I’m not asking for much more than that really! If you would just calm down and listen to what I have to say, neither of us would have to be here like this. ❜
