So I was wondering if you could tell me how it is being a vampire in Germany for example how are the blood laws and donor laws and is there much activity?
It is safe to say that Germany has one of the most active ‘vampire scenes’ in the world, given that the gothic subculture is everywhere in Germany with many events and venues that would by a broad definition count as havens for vampyres. This fertile ground has lend itself to a very active and very stable ‘vampyre society’.
Consuming blood is not per se illegal in Germany, only the act of harming someone to get it can be problematic. Cutting someone as well as using other bloodletting techniques is legally considered “Körperverletzung” (bodily harm), but there is a parapraph (§228 StGB) which states that a person is able to give their consent to bodily harm done to them and thus render the action legal according to law. This consent can naturally only be given if the person is of age and within the right state of mind to be able to do so. Additionally for consensual bodily harm to be legal it must not be against “Gute Sitten” which is a moralizing term and rather open for interpretation. Vampyrism could potentially be interpreted legally as being against “Gute Sitten” but it is unlikely in the current moral climate in Germany. Feeding in a club or open crowded area would likely be considered to be against “Gute Sitten” but nobody will bother you if you cut someone to get to their blood if you are doing it in a private space and all parties are of age and fully consensual participants. In our experience sanguinarian vampyrism in Germany and German-speaking regions all in all is a relatively safe practice to engange in legally, as long as you pay attention to a certain set of practical vampyric ethics.
