hi! i was wondering if you think sophomore year is too early to be looking at scholarships. my counslor's told me that almost all scholarships are only open to seniors and some to juniors. do you think there are enough out there for me to spend some time looking now?
I honestly believe that it’s never too early to start looking! There are plenty of scholarships out there for sophomores too, so don’t worry too much about that. Another thing you may want to consider is competitions and awards- sophomore year is a good year to go for those!
But yes, you can definitely start looking into some scholarships! It’s also good to track some down for junior & senior year now, instead of searching for them later. Good luck!!

So Im applying to a private & public uni in NC but Im afraid. My junior year was a slump grade wise. I got an 18 on my ACT & I dont qualify to take the SAT for free & I cant afford to retake my ACT. Im afraid all my extracurricular wont be enough
Hi anon! While I’m not an admissions officer, here’s some advice I can give you: Work hard your senior year to pull those grades up a little. Unless you’re applying early anywhere, schools will see your first semester grades! If you can’t better your scores, do your best to push them to the side of your mind and focus on your classes and activities (I’m not sure if you’re aware, but both the SAT and ACT offer waivers. not sure if they’ll help you out but definitely look into them if you haven’t!).
And remember that it’s okay. It’s okay if you don’t get to be where you want the first time, because there are more chances. Many students transfer to different schools after their first or second years of college, and that works and it’s ok. If that’s the route you go with, know that there’s nothing wrong with it, ok? Hang in there, you got this!

new networks!
hello everyone!! the members of the hs2017 network are dedicated to sharing resources and providing support for high school seniors + members of the class of ‘17 and our underclassmen. however, we believe that it’s also very important for our underclassmen members of of the studyblr (and non-studyblr, of course) community to come together!
so we encourage any 9th or 11th graders to start a network of their own! (10th graders, check out the @co19 network!) and to also contact us if you would like to start a network for your class, so that we can help you along the way & also inform anyone else looking to join or start a network of what is already out there.
that’s it for now! please remember to send us an ask if you’re looking to start a net for your class. have an amazing day!!

Hey there! I just got to know this network blog via intellectus & it seems amazing!! Is it still open to join? Is so, how do I join? Thanks for the help! ☺️
Hello! That’s so great to hear omg! Applications to the network are currently closed, but they will open up again soon. In the meantime, you can check out the blog & the members of the network, as well as the original net post for more information! Once apps are open again, you can fill out the google form & follow all the rules on the original post to join.
