i think what annoys me most about those cAtChInG cRyPtIdS shows my dad watches is, besides the fear mongering and preying on mentally ill people, the fact that it tries to make the topic of cryptids easy to consume. cryptids are inherently mysterious and complex, they're a cultural phenomenon, and shows like that really don't give a shit about the cultural context behind any of it they just lump everything into "demon" or "ghost" and get on with their bullshit little shows that just want you to buy their shitty audiobooks and crystals. fucking infuriating
