Significant contributors to the local performing arts were honoured during the Trinidad and Tobago Organisation for People of African Decent (TTOPAD) first Heritage Honouree dinner...on November 25.
TTOPAD’s president Muhammad Cisse said they wanted to honour “these humble people,” including professional dance instructor Eugene Joseph and calypsonian Ella Andell, who seemed to have been forgotten by society.
He said TTOPAD seeks to develop “in us a sense of giving back to the community from which we received so much” and mobilise people of African descent to take their rightful place in society so they can stand proud economically and socially.
