Jane had hated Lisbeth; Winifred did not. In fact, Winifred found herself really liking Lisbeth. Lisbeth was able to make conversations roll and flow exactly how they should. Winifred never had that ability; Flora most certainly did, but Winifred did not. Winifred also liked the way Lisbeth laughed before she first called her Winnie. There were many things Winifred really liked about Lisbeth by the end of the school day.
And it turned out there were many things Lisbeth liked about Winifred by the end of the school day. Or at least enough that Lisbeth felt comfortable asking Winifred if she’d like to go over the next day and giving her a hug goodbye.

Flora: Wait up! Guys! // Hey that doesn’t mean walk faster!
Winifred: We weren’t going faster. You’re just slow.
Ilse: Winnie don’t be rude, she clearly has news and can’t help being slow.
Louisa: What’s the news, Flor?
Flora: Do you guys remember Emmett? Super tall, ginger-
Louisa: Yeah.
Ilse: Duh!
Winifred: Sure?
Flora: Well a little birdie told me...
- - -
Pierre: Hey did you hear Emmetts brother and sister are coming to school now.
Eugene: Who told you that? Jane?
Pierre: No- we stopped talking over the summer.
- - -
Jane: I already don’t like the new girl.
Louisa: Why? Cause she isn’t Emmett? You know he isn’t returning this year- he’s too old.
Flora: We all know you had the biggest crush on him.
Jane: It’s not because of Emmett!
Flora: You seriously can’t already hate her Jane. She hasn’t done anything to you.
Louisa: <through laughter> Maybe she’s prettier than Jane?
Jane: <scoff> She isn’t prettier than me // But Winnie, she and her brother are at your desk.
Winifred: Oh I- I don’t mind.
Jane: God Winnie, don’t just let them walk all over you.
Flora: Jane? Hey Jane! No!
Jane: Get out of my cousins desk- now.
Lisbeth: Excuse me?
Flora: Jane don’t bother them. Winnie is fine to sit somewhere different.
Jane: This is her spot, Flora. She should sit here. Besides, boys sit on the other side.
Mr.Harrison: Jane Brandt, stop being bothersome and go take a seat.
Lisbeth: It’s quite alright; and I’m Lisbeth, but please call me Lis and anything but Bethy.
Winifred: I take it that’s what your brother calls you?
Lisbeth: Yep- either that or Lizziebeth. I despise both.
Winifred: My whole family calls me Winnie. I suppose I don’t hate it. Actually, you could call me that if you’d like. It’s less formal sounding than Winifred.
Lisbeth: <chuckles> Okay, Winnie.
Mr.Harrison: Winifred, Elisabeth- Pay attention!
Lisbeth: Sorry Mr.Harrison...and it’s Lisbeth.
- - -
Lisbeth: So I’ll see you tomorrow and after school you’ll come over?
Winifred: I’ll ask my mother tonight if it’ll be okay with her.
Winifred couldn’t help but prefer girls over boys. Boys were messy and too loud and too...boyish? Girls were sweet and pretty and Winifred always found them to be quite perfect. Sometimes girls would make her hands clam up or a frog feel lodged in her throat, but even then Winifred would rather be around a girl than a boy.

- Flora and Winifred walking up to school -
Winifred: Are you still mad with Jane?
Flora: Yes. Very much so.
Winifred: Does this mean you’ll finally tell me what she did?
Flora: Only if you tell me what happened with the meeting between you, mother, father, and the schafers.
Winifred: Oh like you don’t know what it was about. You were also fourteen a mere months ago.
Flora: But you see, mother and father refuse to deem me a desirable bride- ergo, I never received a meeting with a family as prestigious as the Schafers.
Winifred: That’s because your childish!
Flora: Hey! Don’t make this about me. I wanna know which strapping young gent you’re to wed in the far, far future.
Winifred: Well, father said he and the Schafers would love if Eugene and I were to wed once I finished Finishing School.
Flora: Maybe this is a sign you should finally talk to a boy. I swear the only lad I’ve ever seen you make eye contact with is father and Mr.Harrison.
Winifred: I don’t get the appeal still.
- Winifred now in the classroom -
Eugene: Winifred?
Winifred: Morning to you Eugene, and yes? Is everything going swimmingly?
Eugene: Oh no, no, nothing is wrong. I just- maybe we could speak more? My parents have told me of our situation, but I’ve come to realize I’ve barely said a word to you Ms.Hayward.
Winifred: You must forgive me for that. My sister tends to be the more extroverted of us. And please, continue on with calling me Winifred. Miss.Hayward is far too formal- especially for a school setting.
Eugene: It’s alright. I have never understood most boys...fondness of girls. Like your sister and Mr.Herrmann. Goodness, sorry if that sounded rude, but do you understand what I am saying?
Winifred: I understand perfectly well. I too much prefer the company of girls over boys.
So you wanted the songs I think would be my characters top song on Spotify? No? Well too bad I guess
All below the cut: characters included are the current main (Flora, Winifred, Lavinia, Phoebe, Pierre, Eugene, Jane, Lisbeth)
*This is songs I think would be their top on Spotify wrapped + why AND not deep character analysis songs
Flora Hayward: Hayloft by Mother Mother; Once it started getting around on tiktok, they got obsessed however their second top song is Class Of 2013 by Mitski which says a lot.
Winifred Hayward: Good News by Julien Baker; Has made zero attempts to hide the fact she is indeed gay and sad at all hours of the day. This fact is only made clearer by the fact her other top songs are by Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, and Boygenius
Lavinia Hayward: Hey Lover by The Daughters Of Eve; Perfectly crafted her Spotify so this would be her top song because she knew if she didn’t do this, it’d be that one song from Dear Evan Hansen she listened to for all of Quarantine on repeat.
Phoebe Hayward: Pretty Girl by Clairo; Does not give a single care that Clairo is an industry plant because her songs still slap.
Pierre Herrmann: The Calliou Theme Song; He played it for a week straight to annoy Flora and because of that one week it became his top song.
Jane Brandt: I Did Something Bad by Taylor Swift; Jane spent all her money to see the Reputation tour and will die on the hill that it was robbed of awards. A close second to her top song is Getaway Car.
Eugene Schafer: Mr.Loverman by Ricky Montgomery; Every single one of his top songs are by Ricky Montgomery. Every single one of them. In fact, it’d be more surprising if literally any other song was his top one.
Lisbeth Lang: Picture To Burn by Taylor Swift; Lizzie still yells out “and I’ll tell mine your gay”. She is essentially the country/Red era Taylor Stan to Janes Reputation/Lover era Stan.
So I developed a love of my modern Hayward kiddos yes I used the word kiddos I swear I’m not 50 which means I’m required to toss in some of my favourite extra kids into the mix
As a complete run down of the modernized kids we have
All the Hayward kids (who lived past infancy)
Jane Brandt, the Hayward kids cousin
Pierre Herrmann, Floras former best friend
Eugene Schafer, a kid we will be meeting soon!!
And of course there’s other extras who I love, but I sadly can’t include them all in a post about my modernized ones because a) some would be more spoilers than anything else and b) I can only have 8 sims in one household
