A belated Secret Santa gift for @darkmatterrian who asked for something lighthearted and fluffy with Five/Sam, Five/Simon, or Jack/Eugene. Given the story events, a little angst couldn’t be avoided, and given Jack and Eugene, basically the lid fell off when I was sprinkling in the romance.   I hope you’ll like it anyway and forgive my lateness!

S3 of Radio Abel has been my favorite so far from all the incredibly inaccurate rumor mill borderline propaganda the four of them are spreading based on what missions Five is running.

And the best part is I genuinely cannot tell if they're doing it for the drama or actually believe it. Because making it up is exactly something they would do for kicks and giggles.

Sam: The Gravedigger and the Nightingale - Everybody's Worried About Owen

I see Sam as the Nightingale because he's always trying to keep Abel and his runners happy.

Specific Line: The gravedigger and the nightingale In symbiotic thrall As he cleans the rotten muck off of his shovel it sings a simple song Oh, why'd they all have to go and leave us? Is hope our cross? But if this is the cross that we have to carry Let's finish the job.

Maxine and Paula: The Scientist - Coldplay

I know it seems like the obvious choice but it's so them circa s2 T^T

Specific Line: I was just guessing at numbers and figures Pulling the puzzles apart Questions of science, science and progress Do not speak as loud as my heart

Jody: After Hours - The Velvet Underground

I feel like this how Jody feels about what we learn in s3m21

I have a headcanon that Five sings this to Sara. They try to keep it a secret but once Sam and the Dr girlfriends find out, they all do it together.

Nadia Al Hanaki: Falling Behind - Laufey

This just reminds me of her plot with Lem

Specific Line: Touched the ocean, fell right in Stepped outside and burned my skin My life won't go my way

Jack and Eugene: Strawberries and Cigarettes - Troye Sivan

They both just seem like Troye Sivan fans. Not only that but I first got into Zombies Run! around the time that this came out, and started coming into my gender and sexuality. RIP Jack and Eugene, you two would've loved Love, Simon

Five: I have two whole playlists dedicated to my Five! One of them are songs I think they'd like and one that reminds me of them

But right now, if I had to pick one it'd be Mad Dog - The Crane Wives

It's a song about working yourself into the ground and I feel like it perfectly encapsulate Five's need to give, give, and give until they can't anymore.
