"Come on Lulu! Let's go!" A younger you exclaimed. Your hands were clasped together with Eula's, while you tugged her along with you. The tall grasses swayed around your little legs, the sun could be seen along the horizon. The chirps of birds could be heard as the two of you walked along the hills.
The two of you were inseparable, you did everything together; matching outfits, showering, food, hobbies, everything. You were a few minutes older than her but it didn't mean that you were any less protective over her, quite the opposite you would do anything for her and vice versa. But being inseparable didn't mean that the two of you had similar personalities. You were quite blunt and Eula was quieter, she opted to be quiet so it didn't give people a reason to hate her.
You understood how harsh and unforgiving this world could be. Eula however still had faith in people and your family, you knew people hated you no matter what you did and who you were. You knew it would always be like that, you knew the Lawrence clan would always be hated no matter what happened. It hurted, of course it did but you wanted to stay strong for Eula.
You also did not have any faith in your family; The Lawrence clan. Why would you? They did nothing but bad things, even to you and Eula. You and Eula did not have a normal and loving upbringing, quite the opposite. Being teached 'proper ettiquette' (more like abuse) at a young age wasn't the most pleasant experience. And furthermore your parents wanted one of you to be the one to get your clan their previous power back. You didn't want that, you wanted equality and freedom, you didn't want to be hated by everyone. You just wanted to be happy with Eula..
"...N/n?" You could hear Eula's younger voice call out to you. She slightly squeezed your hand, like she was trying to anchor herself with your presence. "Yes, what is it Lulu?" You responded to her, while letting her squeeze your hand.
"Why do people hate us?" you could hear the slight tremble in her voice as she spoke. Squeezing her hand a little tighter, not to hurt her but to comfort her. You sighed irritated, not at her but at the world. Stopping you turned around and held both of her hands in yours. Eula looked at you with tears in her eyes, who knew little sweet Eula would become stoic and strong in the future?
"That's because...people don't see us for ourselves, they see the past mistakes of our ancestors in us...but they don't understand that we didn't ask to be born in this family…" You sighed wistfully, looking into your twin sister's eyes. You softly smiled at her then turned around to start walking again, still keeping a hold of her hand.
Eula her eyebrows furrowed as she bit her bottom lip in thought. Her eyes flitted to your hands that were intertwined with hers.
"Y/n?" You raised your eyebrows at the use of your name, surprised that she used your normal name instead of the nickname she gave you. Ignoring that fact you 'hmm'd' urging her to go on. Eula opened her mouth to ask the question that was lingering in her mind, but she felt like her throat was constricted, preventing her from speaking.
"Y-you wont leave me right?..you won't hate me like anyone else right…?" She felt so weak compared to you, you never stuttered nor did you ask 'stupid and useless' questions. But she needed to ask those questions even if you told her 'no' she needed to know.
"..." you blinked a couple of times to process her words. Growing you gripped her hands thighter, why did she think that? Did mom tell her or did someone else say such nonsense? "I will never, ill always love you and protect you with my life...no matter what." You sternly spoke to her, she lifted her eyes from the ground to the back of your head.
"I'll love and protect you till the end of time...always and forever, I promise"

"Please d-dont leave me..."
Eula trembled those words out, she knew her pleads were in vain but she still tried to get you to stay. She felt like a child begging their mom for the last sweets, but she never really had that kind of life so how should she know how that feeling felt? She didnt even care how pitiful she looked right now, with her knees on the ground and her usual stoic face replaced with a sorrowful one.
Her lips trembled, while her usual steady hands were shaking. She didn't dare look you in the eye, afraid that you would glare at her. You stood above her looking down at her, you gritted your theeth...out of frustration? Or anger? Or maybe betrayal? Or perhaps even guilt?
The rain was pouring down upon the two of you, but neither of you seemed to care that much...really it almost fitted the atmosphere. Your hair was sticking onto your face because of the pouring rain. Eula's body was heaving up and down from the sobs that were threatening to escape. You turned your face away from your twin-sister and towards the dark sky, letting the rain droplets cascade down your face.
The sky rumbled, the heavy and dark clouds causing a melancholic atmosphere. Eula finally dared to look up at your face, tears threatening to spill from her eyes. Everything aches inside of you, it almost felt like you were physically being stabbed in the chest. It felt like you couldn't breathe like there was a stone blocking your throat from speaking, it hurted so much.
"I can't...i wished i could but it hurts too much...just being near you hurts me. Everything about you brings back unwanted memories and emotions, your face...your voice..everything." choking out the words that were stuck in your throat and mind. You could see Eula physically wince but you couldn't let that stop you from speaking. You turned around ready to leave but she caught your wrist preventing you from leaving. Turning your head over your shoulder to look at her, you answered her;
"I-I am sorry Eula..I truly am but it hurts me too much, and I cant hurt myself even more. I can't be your sister right now...but maybe one day...I'll be able to fulfill my promise…" Taking your wrist out of her grasp you turned around walking away a few steps before turning around.
"....Goodbye...my dear Lulu.." Your voice was just above a whisper, but Eula was able to hear it. Her eyes widened as sobs wrecked through her body. You walked away from her towards the horizon leaving her in the dirt. Thunder struck in the distance as the rain was starting to become heavier.
"N-no! Y/n! Please!...please don't leave me...I don't want to be alone anymore...you promised.." As you walked away you could hear Eula's cries fade with the wind. Eula was a wrecked mess. Her hair was sticking to her face, tears streamed down her cheeks, hands and knees dirty from kneeling in the dirt.
You weren't in a much better condition either as you walked away. You clenched your fists together, while the build up tears were now freed. They streamed like a waterfall down your cheeks. Your emotions were a mess, you didnt know what to feel. You felt like a part of your soul was ripped out of you, like multiple needles were stabbed into your heart. Your insides were tight, like stones were dropped on your lungs preventing you from breathing.
It seems that you broke your promise...and it also seems like there is no 'always and forever' as you said there would be.
