it’s december 25th as i write this, so merry christmas to everyone who celebrates it. and if not, then happy holidays.

the light of the moon shines down upon you and eula as you pull her closer to your body. her arms are wrapped around your waist, and a tired smile is settled on her face as you run your hands through her soft hair. you can tell that today wasn’t the best for her, she clinged on to you more than usual.

you two were supposed to head back home an hour ago, but with how sad eula looked, you decided that it was best to stay where you were right now — laying on a picnic blanket near a cliffside painted with cecilia flowers almost as pretty as eula herself.

“(name), do you ever wonder,” she paused, “about what it would be like if we lived in a different world?”

you look down at her, continuing to card your fingers through her hair. “yes, i do,” you say, the tone of your voice as calm as always. she’s always found comfort in it, comfort in you and your words. after all, with that voice, you’ve reassured her time and time again that you won’t ever shun her like the citizens of mondstadt do so.

you see her as someone different from her tainted family name, as a normal person. you were one of the first people that had treated her like an actual human being — you were still so kind to her despite her threatening to exact vengeance upon you, you bought her food when no one else would take her money, you gave her the love and affection that she was deprived of her whole life, you spent your time with her despite her not feeling that she deserves to be with you.

“why do you ask?”

“hearing you talk is very endearing. if i could, i’d stay up until sunrise just to listen to my partner ramble on and on about the things they’re passionate about,” she mumbles as her eyes flutter shut and her embrace tightens. her drowsiness was impossible not to spot.

“i can talk all you want when the morning comes,” you press a chaste kiss on the top of her head and grab a warm blanket that you packed in your backpack so that eula had another source of warmth other than yourself. “goodnight, eula. i love you.”

“i love you too, (name). i’m so grateful that i have you.”
