it’s…kind of a stupid “ego” (if you could call it that) thing, but he’s a little embarrassed.
knocking on someone’s door relatively far into the night to, well, talk about your feelings, was probably not the most polite (nor reasonable) course of action.
but he couldn’t seem to hold it in for another day, because who knows when he’ll get the time to think about it again? he feels terrible for potentially waking the man, but he decides to swallow his pride and take in a deep breath, hoping for the best.
what could he possibly say to make it less awkward, though?
‘i couldn’t sleep because i was busy wondering why some people are so insistent on hurting their own kind even if in the end they’re all made of the same kind of flesh and blood and since you’ve been on this earth longer i was wondering if you have a plausible explanation for this’?
yeah, totally not awkward. very smooth, actually.
(he must be in some strange kind of mindset today. this was probably not healthy.)
he’s brought some packets of fragrant, non-caffeinated tea (again, banana milk was absolutely wonderful but he wasn’t sure it’d be something you would offer to a 37-year-old police detective in the middle of the night) and a few baked goods, which he hopes is enough to serve as an apology for his sudden appearance and onslaught of questions.
was he going to regret this? probably.
he lifts a shaky hand to the door, and knocks on it hesitantly, creating a sound barely loud enough to suggest someone was behind it.
At this ridiculous time in the middle of the night, he should be resting and trying to catch up on his sleep. If there is anything he lacks the most in, it’s probably sleep.
Except he isn’t.
Instead here he is, sitting on the sofa in the living room, his upper body crouched over the numerous papers and files scattered all over the coffee table. He really shouldn’t be bringing his work back home, but he did anyway. The case isn’t even an urgent one, but he just couldn’t stop himself from doing that, being a typical workaholic and all that.
With his concentration fully focused on the case he’s reading, his hand reaches out to grab the mug without him even looking as he brings it to his mouth — only for his brows to knit together upon realising that it’s empty. He puts the papers down, getting up to make himself another mug of tea, but then suddenly stops when he heard a knock on the door.
Looking over to the main door, he wonders if he’s imagining things because who would visit him at this time of the night, but he decides to check it out anyway. He walks over and presses the button on the security system, looking through the doorbell camera as the sight of a person standing in front of his apartment came into view on the device. He raises his eyebrows at the unexpected visitor, but hurriedly opens the door after a few seconds of delay.
“Minhyung? Why are you here at this hour?” He asks, opening the door wider for the young male before noticing the stuff he’s carrying. “Ah, never mind. Come in first, don’t just stand there like a statue.” He usher.
