      “  argh, he’s awake. why won’t you turn off  ----  ”  crap. she only meant to turn off rae’s alarm that blared from phone while he was ordering them coffee. it worked, but then his lock screen flashed on, giving petite bluenette a glimpse of herself. she was looking over her shoulder smiling like whoever took it was rushing behind. it looked like it was taken from the carnival, slightly capturing a running aera. she remembers they were chasing the energetic toddler through a rabbit barn. why did he make this his wallpaper though  ...  ?  patting frantic heart, trying to bite back a happy smile before shaking head quickly, pushing the device more towards his side of the table like she was desperate to push away any hopeful thoughts. maybe he’d thought it was hilarious, next week it’ll be jae looking like an absolute grump just waking up or bash carrying aera on his shoulders while she tugs on his hair. it didn’t mean anything   ...  right  ?

to  pin  my  muse  against  the  wall  by  accident.

it  was  the  spring  of  2017  and  she,  mo,  uriah  and  some  other  friends  were  partying  in  a  mutual  friend’s  beach  house.  the  vibes ?  immaculate.  maybe  that  was  also  thanks  to  the  one  and  a  half  glass  of  liquid  marijuana  in  her  hand.  uriah,  by  now,  had  disappeared  like  he  does,  not  wanting  to  stick  to  the  same  circle  for  too  long.  i’m  a  gift  to  the  people  and  a  gift  should  be  shared  he  would  joke,  but  that  was  just  another  way  of  saying  everyone  liked  him.  well,  in  this  crowd,  anyway.  selene,  dressed  in  a  simple  cherry  themed  bikini  and  lacy  shawl  wrapped  around  her  waist,  couldn’t  help  swaying  from  side  to  side  at  the  music  booming  from  a  speaker  nearby.  just  to  feel  the  skirt  brushing  her  legs.  yep,  buzzed.  with  all  these  people  and  more  coming  in,  it’s  no  wonder  the  room  was  beginning  to  get  crowded.  you  couldn’t  even  pass  someone  without  brushing  against  each  other.  and  just  as  she  decided  to  find  someone  else  to  sway  with,  it  felt  like  the  crowd  had  shifted,  pushing  her  back  against  the  wall  a  bit.  luckily,  mo  fought  her  way  to  her,  grabbing  her  hand.  “  heyyyyy,  my  love,  where’ve  you  been ?!  ”  giggling,  rosy  cheeked,  the  two  looked  like  siamese  twins,  the  way  they  bent  their  heads  together  to  chat  excitedly.  then,  mo  lost  her  footing  when  another  wave  of  newcomers  arrived.  they  were  practically  inches  from  each  other’s  lips.  selene  giggled  again,  sobriety  be  damned  at  this  point  as  fingers  toyed  with  the  pieces  of  stray  hair  framing  her  friend’s  face.  “  oops.  you  know  what ?  if  you  weren’t  on  my  brother  and  jae’s  radar,  i’d  totally  kiss  you  right  now  if  you  wanted  to !  you’re  gorgeous,  mo.  ”  when  they  get  out  of  this,  someone  please  put  this  girl  to  bed.

“  gosh,  you’re  infuriating !  i  was  just  kidding  before,  but  then  you  took  it  too  far  !  why ?  do  you  hate  me  that  much ?  ”  small  hands  push  him  back,  much  to  the  group’s  surprise.  the  two  always  got  into  it,  but  it  was  more  of  a  comical  spat  that  ended  with  selene  fuming.  none  of  them  could  have  predicted  that  she  actually  took  some  of  his  teasing  to  heart.  she  didn’t  expect  it,  either.  maybe  in  some  odd  way,  after  all  this  time  spent  going  out  with  their  classmates,  the  brunette  found  some  softness  in  between  all  that  heated  behavior.  though  she  was  already  cross  from  being  cornered  into  a  shift  tomorrow  night  on  top  of  having  a  three  chapter  exam  to  study  for  and  every  word  to  come  out  of  her  mouth  seemed  brushed  off  by  the  male.  and  she  just  wanted  to  play  the  game  for  the  sake  of  it  being  silent.  when  it  was  over,  she  defeated,  his  taunts  started  up  again.  her  cheeks  flushed  after  making  a  scene,  quietly  apologizing  to  the  others  before  grabbing  her  purse.  on  her  way  out,  a  hand  reached  for  arm,  pushing  despite  her  protests  until  they  ended  up  outside  the  arcade.  “  what  the  hell  are  you  doing ?  let  me  go.  ”  she’s  tired  plus  really  embarrassed  to  face  anyone  after  that.  why ?  why  did  i  lash  out  like  that ?  what’s  wrong  with  me  tonight  ----  and  he’s  kissing  her.  pushing  again  until  her  back  hits  stone  wall,  one  hand  squeezing  her  hip  and  the  other  coming  up  to  adjust  her  chin,  deepening  their  point  of  connection.  the  little  one  wants  to  throat  punch  him.  she  wants  to  bring  him  closer.  doesn’t  really  know  what  she  wants.  but  she  realized  after  they  parted,  after  they  ditched  to  go  back  to  his  apartment,  that  for  those  few  moments,  everything  that  had  poked  and  prodded  at  her  bad  mood  simply  disappeared.

 rae: sneaky glances, meeting up in the campus’s greenhouse  &.  deeming it their special place, visiting karaoke bars  &.  cheering each other on after a couple of drinks, pretending not to know each other in the hallway but passing off ‘anonymous’ notes as a game, sunny packing bento lunch boxes knowing the other is busy with his studies, text message confessions that were either erased or sent to drafts, challenging each other to arcade games, greeting hugs that last a little too long, accidentally falling asleep in each other’s dorm rooms while studying  &.  covering the other with a blanket

  there’s so many pls. late night drives around denton blasting music, impromptu bake offs while they pretend they’re on that ‘the great british bake off’ show  &.  having both aera  &.  bash blindly judge, forehead kisses for dayssss, wine tasting every year like it’s tradition ofc, helping each other find halloween costumes, playing a bit of espionage so they know what to get their mutual friends for christmas, one makes breakfast  &.  the other makes dinner, switching off depending on the day, bree dragging sunny to clubs  &.  sunny dragging bree to book signings.

what was supposed to be a relaxing self care night for the beauties turned into a dance party featuring a bottle of apple flavored ciroc. after their somewhat stressful week, it only took one suggesting   &.   one immediately agreeing for their chaos to set off. it started with take a shot every time joey from friends said ‘how you doin’ to a remix of strip poker where they went into their closets   &.   put on some of the craziest articles of clothing. somehow, sunny found herself upside down on the couch, yellow hued sunglasses nearly slipping off her rosy face. she watched bree trying to make a house from their poker cards, giggling every time it fell apart   &.   adorable blonde pouted.   “   you know, i love you, gorgeous. you’re beautiful   &.   you don’t have to try, really. i also hate that about you,   ”   definitely joking on that part, too drunk to attempt ducking away from the pillow thrown at her head, which only made her laugh harder.   “   seriously though. when we met i thought you were a big girl, all sophisticated. but then when i found out you could pretty much be just as dorky as me, i loved you more. you make anyone around you feel better, like you know just what to say or do perfectly. i’d be bias, except i’ve seen it work on strangers, too.   ”   her soft smile fades a bit, tears stinging at the corners of her eyes. we’ve definitely come to the emotional mess part of the night.   “   i think my favorite part is you don’t just put up with me, you make me a stronger person   &.   i just    ----   just   ----   ”   another love you dies on lips as she’s being pulled in a viciously tight embrace.
