Once thought to be a variant of the Southeastern Dwarf Salamander (Eurycea quadridigitata)

One of the smallest amphibians in the world, it averages just 2.5 cm (1.0 in) in total length.

Blue Ridge Two-lined Salamander (Eurycea wilderae), family Plethodontidae, NC, USA

This male has rather prominent nasal cirri, the small face protrusions, which they grow during the mating season. These organs help the males detect female pheromones.
