AI-driven method accelerates antiviral discovery against EV71 using limited data

Researchers at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania have developed an AI-driven approach to discover antiviral compounds using limited experimental data.
Published in Cell Reports Physical Science, the study targeted human enterovirus 71 (EV71), a cause of hand, foot, and mouth disease.
By training a machine learning model on just 36 compounds, they identified eight promising candidates, five of which successfully inhibited the virus in lab tests—significantly outperforming traditional screening methods.
This efficient technique, combining AI with laboratory validation, offers a new, faster path to antiviral discovery, especially in time-sensitive or resource-limited scenarios.
The study was conducted in collaboration with Procter & Gamble and Cornell University.

#TipsMedicina #Enterovirus
There are just so many virus around us nowadays EBOLA, EV71, Flu and Rotavirus. How do you protect your children from all these at school? Ebola Virus Disease (WHO) Ebola virus disease (EVD), formerly known as Ebola haemorrhagic fever, is a severe, often fatal illness in humans. The virus is transmitted to people from wild animals and spreads in the human population through human-to-human transmission. The average EVD case fatality rate is around 50%. Case fatality rates have Read more at http://blog.febico.com/apogen-natural-remedy-viral-infection.html
