ok im back on my "the public perception of ADHD is incredibly reductive" soapbox again
i think by far the most impactful change being medicated has done for me is not the increased ability to focus and initiate tasks (not to say those aren't incredibly amazing as well) but the ability to effectively do metacognition for the first time in maybe my entire life
i don't really know how to put into words how strong of a difference it made, partially because my memory pre-medication is a little compromised, but it felt a little bit like when you lift up rock and you get to see all of the little critters hiding under there
going from having to deduce what what going on in my brain by looking at shadows on the wall to just being able to "see" it directly was an incredibly jarring but life changing experience
anyway if any of my three followers are on the fence about getting medicated, it is in fact worth the effort
