Bio:
Eva is the illegitimate daughter of Callum Teuling and half-sister to Finnian Teuling. Her mother, a Dainish innkeeper, became pregnant during an affair with Callum. To cover up his infidelity, Callum told her that as soon as the child was born, she was to hand to him, and he would raise it. Her mother agrees, and when Eva is born, she is immediately taken by Callum and brought back to Scotland. He lied to his wife, claiming that during his recent trip, he had found a crying child whose mother had died, and he had decided to take her in.
The wife agreed and loved Eva like her own, as did Finnian, and he promised he would always protect her. Eva was blissfully unaware of her heritage until one day, in her early 30s, while cleaning her father's office, she accidentally knocked over an old ledger, and several pieces of parchment fell out; Being naturally curious, she decided to take a look, and she realized that they were letters to her birthmother, from her father, and the truth was laid before her in ink.
Eva confronted her father in front of Finnian and her adoptive mother, showing the letters as proof of her father's infidelity. Her father got mad and beat her. Finnian, being the protective brother he is, shielded her from her father's blow, and she packed her stuff to leave. She couldn’t stand being there anymore, now knowing the truth. Finnian offered to come with her, but she insisted he didn’t since he had a future with his father’s Spirit business. But he was adamant and told her that, regardless of whether they are related by blood, she is still his younger sister and wants to stick with her.
Eva and Finian eventually traveled to England and then booked a voyage to the New World. They arrived in the MBC, but they didn’t really like the village. So, he and Eva decided to find a new settlement to live in. While traveling, they met up with a wandering caravan but Native Americans raided the caravan, and she and Finnian were the only survivors. They continued on their way until they crossed paths with Frederick.
Eva asked if there were any settlements nearby, and Frederick told her about the settlement he lived in, which was a short walk away. Eva gladly took him up on the offer, but he said he needed to run it by Bastion, yet Eva could tell from the way he said his name that there was something there.
He introduced them to Bastion, and Eva, being the free spirit she is, didn’t realize he was the one in charge, so she was very casual when addressing him. She stopped once she realized who she was talking to when Frederick told her that Richard’s last name was Bastion. She immediately apologized, and Bastion agreed to allow them to stay, as long as they made themselves useful and played an active part in the settlement.
Eva spent her time either helping Finnian run the inn or assisting Frederick when he needed help treating others who were sick and injured. As time went on, Frederick and Eva became friends, though to Bastion, she was a close acquaintance at best. Eva didn’t see it as such, and she considered both of them her dear friends. She also could tell that Frederick and Richard had feelings for each other. Finnian warned her to be more cautious about how she acts around them, given that Frederick and Richard had known each other for almost their entire lives, and she didn’t know them that well.
Eva was adamant that they were friends, and she knew Frederick wouldn’t harm her; the same goes for Richard, whom she could just tell wouldn't. Her blind trust came to a head when she was attacked by Bastion and defended herself, though unfortunately, this would result in her untimely death.
Eva is very positive and knowledgeable on various topics. She is kind, honest, and loyal to her friends and family. She is not one to shy away from speaking her mind. She despises dishonesty, especially considering what her father kept from her. However, she is also open-minded and free-spirited, which means she isn't bound by tradition and actively pursues activities that wouldn’t have been considered proper for a woman at the time.
