A small smile of his own blooms from his lips, one that was allowed to grow brighter because of Yasu. Hearing each passing syllable that escapes from them, why, he could not help but find the shrinking violet endearing. Nothing but empathy sprouts when he can see and hear the feeling of nervousness himself; how their voice was a quiet as a mouse, how their lips could only extend so little, and how humble they phrased themselves, Shinso was staring at a mirror when he observed Yasu, seeing a bit of himself in them. The boy doesn’t catch himself performing an action that was similar to theirs; his hand hides behind his neck. While he never thought himself as the best candidate for giving advice, his heart hummed otherwise.
“Oh Yasu, make the clock yours; you have so much time to calm yourself. Don’t worry, everyone knows you’re doing your best. The way you do things matters just as much as how the rest do it.”
The combination of a gentle volume and pace brought to life a brotherly sort of character to his voice. The instinct of having to look out for others comes from knowing the loneliness too well, and perhaps being a caretaker of many cats.
“... Would you, like me to stay by you?”
