The Hope Diamond is an alleged cursed diamond found in the Smithsonian. The Legend goes that a man named Tavernier went to India and stole the diamond from the eye of the Hindu goddess Sita and after he sold the diamond he was torn apart by dogs on his way to Russia. The Hope Diamond eventually fell into the hands of the French Monarchy and was blamed for the executions of King Louis XVI and Marie Antionette. Evalyn McLean even had the diamond for awhile and her son Vision died in a car crash and her daughter committed suicide and her husband was declared insane and locked up in a mental hospital. Eventually in 1949 the Hope Diamond was donated and mailed in a plain brown box to the Smithsonian where it still is today.
