the reason I don't read james/lily fanfiction isn't because I exclusively ship starchaser (I don't)

But because Lily fits so perfectly with so many other people and it can be just as deep.

Lily/Mary? Friends to lovers yearning? Mary being such a "straight girl", chasing after boys all the time? Lily thinking there is no world in which Mary could possibly love a girl, let alone her? Mary seeing Lily constantly hang out with Severus, and think there is no way Lily would even glance in her direction? Lily silently wishing Mary would just look at her, and when she finally does, Lily has already moved on to James?

Lily/Pandora? Pandora being so intrigued by Lily that she wants to dissect her, cut her open and find out what she hides so much? Lily who would let her, because who is she to question the judgment of a being so ethereal? Long glances, where Pandora's curiosity eventually makes Lily even more drawn to her?

Lily/Marlene? Friends to lovers like with marylily, except Lily is initially annoyed with Marlene and her constant arrogance and loudness, until she realises it was what she needed to get out of her shell all along? Marlene just being constantly mesmerised by the way Lily masks her fire with a calmness, a patience Marlene can't wait to snap?

Lily/Barty? You're telling me Bartylily isn't the most perfect ship ever? (mix them with James and honestly I'll faint) Barty being this inconvenience in Lily's life until she falls for him? Lily being so "pure" and "perfect", and Barty can tell it's all a facade because he, too, used to hide behind it?

HM: lily/peter (if people ship james/peter, I can ship him with lily under the same premise) lily/dorcas, lily/remus (although mainly platonic is my preference), lily/evan (similar to bartylily) (Evan Evans bonus)

Like yes, Sunflower can be deep and interesting when well done, but so can all of these ships ans honestly I'm obsessed
