**Award-Winning** CGI 3D Animated Short: "CALDERA" - by Evan Viera

While at Full Sail Univ. completing my Computer Animation degree program I learned about this animated short by Evan Viera (The CGBros, 2013). I was so inspired by his work on this film short that it motivated me, touched me, and was given the highest approval by my creative and imaginative mind. I watched this short over and over many, many times, especially when animation projects discouraged me. I used this short to boost my moral by showing me how Evan Viera’s short was similar to my plans and goals.

It’s not only well created with amazing animation, and character and environment modeling, it’s an extremely touching creativity that’ll inspire you leaving you amazed and in awe. So, I just had to share this with you so that whoever watches this short will too be inspired, and get something unforgettable or uplifting from it like I did.

"CALDERA" by Evan Viera

Through the eyes of a young girl suffering from mental illness, CALDERA glimpses into a world of psychosis and explores a world of ambiguous reality and the nature of life and death.

CALDERA is inspired by my father's struggle with schizoaffective disorder. In states of delusion, my father has danced on the rings of Saturn, spoken with angels, and fled from his demons. He has lived both a fantastical and haunting life, but one that's invisible to the most of us. In our differing understanding of reality, we blindly mandate his medication, assimilate him to our marginalizing culture, and entirely misinterpret him for all he is worth. CALDERA aims to not only venerate my father, but all brilliant minds forged in the haunted depths of psychosis.
