“It is amazing what a crazed mind can come up with,” Argyle smiled, then placed down the third set of images. “Here, we see the perfectly clean writing found on the last victim. Admittedly, the clean strokes are reminiscent of the precision often only found in thinking machines.” Argyle shrugged. “But again, no machine would believe in demons and gods. Such thoughts are simply illogical. The writing is also a lot tighter, smaller, so there is more to be found on the last two corpses.” “And what cosmic horrors are scribed on those two?” Robinson asked while Evrin took a closer look at the pictures. “Some of it is gibberish, maybe some sort of chant or incantation that's supposed to help our killer call forth his or her god. There's bits here and there about the old one granting them strength and turning them into a vessel able to better spread the word of their lord, only the way that part is written makes it sound like he or she wants the old god to turn them into a sort of mental/spiritual parasite, spreading madness like a disease.”

The elevator shook slightly, giving off the impression that at any moment it would suddenly drop. It stopped on the third floor. The doors opened, and the happy little tune cooed into the empty hallway. After about fifteen seconds, with no one entering, the doors closed and the elevator continued up to the next floor while the vocals streaming in through a tiny speaker echoed something about having cake by the ocean. After the chorus echoed a dozen times, the elevator rattled to a stop again. A little chime rang out and its doors opened up while the number “6” pulsated above the shifting metal. Klive hesitated for a moment, then left the elevator. His footfalls echoed down the hall. He stopped just outside of the elevator and looked around at the empty hallway in confusion. Taking a step back, he turned as if to leave, but the doors were already closing. The elevator gave off an extra thunderous rattling sound, and he could have sworn that the big metal box was now plummeting down to the first floor. “Well,” Klive said, his eyes still on the closed metal doors. He gulped and turned back to the empty hall.
