Special birthday dinner at Mother Wolf. Chef Evan Funke did not disappoint! The oxtail meatballs, squash blossoms, gamberi in salsa verde, ragu rigatoni and pizza were flavorful and excellent. So grateful for 30 minutes with James Beard-nominated chef #EvanFunke at #PSIFF. We chatted about the traumatic closing of his restaurant #Bucato, the rocky launch of #Felix in Venice, CA, and his starring role in a new documentary about becoming the best pastamaker in the US. Funke is a big man with a big heart. You can taste the love in his pasta. Scenes of him lovingly rolling out sheets with Bologna’s pasta “maestra” Alessandra Spisni were like moving meditations. Thanks to his partner, Canadian chef and entrepreneur @JanetZuccarini of @gusto54catering, the chef may be taking his mattarello (rolling pin) and handmade orecchiette to new locations in 2019. i had the opportunity to work alongside chef evan funke at bucato during my time here in LA.  dude is a badass.  this video is rad.
