Pocket dimensions in Evangelion
As per my crappy norm, there won't be any pictures... Sorry. I'm also not a physicist but I'm trying my best to explain concepts that are probably 3 years ahead of my science class. I am almost guaranteed to get something wrong (concerning the Leliel part. Not the rest.) , so please correct me if I do. I think I'll start with the most well known, and simple example of a pocket dimension, the 12th Angel Leliel. Regarded as a Dirac Sea, an alternate description is simply a pocket dimension that is devoid of matter, and in this case, replaced with antimatter. The reason this is considered a pocket dimension, by my standards, is that it is contained within the shadow of Leliel, and the opening being composed by an inverted AT field indistinguishable from Leliel's body. I'm not confident in this paragraph at all, but I'm putting it here for science. Another example of a more impressive pocket dimension is the one seen in Rebuild 3rd Impact. Prior to reaching Radiant Giant status, Unit 01 began forming the Failures of Infinity from the core of Zeruel. These creatures are artificial FAR, composed entirely out of material from the Fruit of Life, and require only a human soul to ascend to God Status. For those of you whose Eva Archaeology is hazy, each Moon, Black or White, possesses a pocket dimension containing the souls designated to their particular race. Black carries Human souls, White carries Angels. During the process of making the Failures, Unit 01 opened one of these dimensions, and another lies open over the Antarctic desolation. Given that 3rd Impact happened inside the Black Moon, and that Human souls were needed to complete the Failures, we can conclude that Unit 01 opened the human dimension, and the Angel dimension is over Antarctica. Given that Kaworu interrupted 3rd impact by putting Unit 01 in stasis with Cassius, the Failures were not physically completed, no human souls were ever released, and a giant bloody Rei head was left with a bunch of red Unit 01's reaching for it. In 3.0 the process continues again with 3rd Impact part 2. I call it that because, it's just finishing 3rd Impact, it's not doing anything different enough to warrant a new # in my book. As soon as Unit 013 escapes Terminal Dogma, or favorite red portal reopens, Giant Rei Head explodes, and the Failures are completed, immediately screaming their heads off as they float in the vortex around Unit 013. However, once again the Impact is stopped before any human souls can be released, which means giant feral Unit 01 replicas numbering in the hundreds. These can then be seen in the short 4.0 preview being fought by a hodgepodge of Units 02 and 08. The results of 3rd Impact part 2 on Antarctica and the Angel portal are unknown. A final pocket dimension is seen near the end of EOE 3rd Impact, where Reilith draws all human souls into massive holes in her hands, as Shinji had in Unit 01. Given that all humans are being gathered into a giant collective, devoid of individuals, it can be assumed that this is EOE's human portal. With the death of Reilith however, the pocket dimension was left open, and souls spilled into the Orange Sea covering Earth. This allowed any and all humans the chance to reform as Shinji did should they have the will to do so. Getting into the symbolimplosion, the pocket dimension for humans is essentially Heaven, with human souls being recycled as they die. However, you have no mind to think or feel with, and you simply exist. After death and before Rebirth you would be little more than a mindless shade, like the ghosts of Asphodel in Greek mythology. fiendswithbenefits
