What I love about YOI is that every skater have their own story, I mean they're not only competitors. Kubo-sensei could have just make the main character tell what he thinks while skating and make the others just skate but what she did is that every one of them is competing for a reason, they all are equally motivated and we can know the story of all of them which makes us love them and choose the one we want to win, even if that's not Yuuri
