I'm sure this was mentioned seasons ago by big-brained SydCarmy people. But if @fairestbeard 's theory on Carmy messed up the lacto ferment/marinade, @freedelusionshere 's theory on Syd's missing cleaver and @mitocamdria Carmy's a serial plotter is correct.
Carmy also planned on introducing Sorry this day. This wasn't spontaneous.
But I want to bring up that Syd is aware that he does indirect communication at least.
As soon as he says two of my old chefs, she does a look and nod similar to the one in the Brigade talk, where Carmy tries to bring in the work dynamic of boss-sous. Basically it's a "okay here we go I know where this is going."
He planned on her introducing this sign so they wouldn't have the same moment Sydney left. Syd nods and is amused when he is not looking at her and when he makes eye contact again she changes her expression like she's listening clueless to what he's doing.
I love this latest season where Sydney doesn't have time for the sorry sign without specificity in his communication and she doesn't have time for the gestures he's been giving her since season 1. But she wants him and his weird ways and he knows it and feels the same way but he's scared to act.
But they are becoming more direct with each other until Richie interupted. Guess we're saving it for a later day.
