celebrate halloween in shrike heights at our annual spooktacular !

join in on all of the halloween fun and fright this year at shrike heights commune ! each year since the founding of the town, the success of the fall festival has been followed closely by a night dedicated to the tricks and treats associated with the spooky and beloved fall holiday. this year, the spooktacular will be running on a different time schedule in order to keep our residents safe. residents and families are encouraged to attend the event any time from noon to sunset. come dressed up in your grandest costumes and enter the competitions for your chance to win prizes ! the costume competition will be drawn at 5pm.

along with the costume competitions, celebrate halloween with our appropriately themed activities and attractions. get lost in the corn maze, dance and sing along to live music performed by local shrike artists, eat your body weight in candy, get a spooky themed drink at julio’s pop up halloween bar, and so much more ! tickets are available upon arrival for those who did not purchase theirs at the fall fest, and we can assure you this is a night you do not want to miss !

ooc info - happy halloween ! this is one of the biggest shrike events of the year that typically most residents attend ( there’s something for everyone here, really ! ). halloween spooktacular interactions may begin immediately. please note there will be a plot drop connected to the afterparty. please refrain from writing any threads set after the spooktacular / at the afterparty until after the plot drop has been posted. us admins will be sending a participation call out for the costume competition ( more info on that will be found in the discord shortly ) asap. please feel free to ask us any questions about the event if you have them !

Edgar knocked on Emery’s front door before letting himself in.  “Em, it’s me.  Have there been any calls?”  He carried in a few bags of groceries.  Ever the hypocrite, Edgar wanted to make sure the other was taken care of.

She practically dragged her brother into the cemetery cottage as soon as he showed up.  “Jooonassss,” she whined.  “Did you see the news?  That fucker actually survived!  I mean, he’s stuck in the loony bin so maybe no one will believe him, but what if we get in trouble?”  Lizzie pouted, a look of concern as she looked up to Jonas.

James perked up at the knock on his office door, quickly stubbing out his cigarette and waving away some of the smoke.  “Come in,” he called.  He raised a brow as a man he’d never seen before walked in.  “You must be here to collect Nathan Jin’s personal effects, right?  They told me someone called the front desk earlier.”  

He opened up a drawer and pulled out a clipboard.  “I’m just gonna need you to sign this and it’s all yours.”  The detective looked Peyton over, his expression softening.  “I’m sorry for your loss man.  That shit ain’t easy.”

He sat staring at his hands, unable to unsee the blood that had coated them.  His blood.  Anthony didn’t think it was possible, but he could feel a fresh set of tears well up as he thought back to clutching Dante’s body, of the absolute agony he felt as they forced him to let go.  He was certain he’d done nothing but cry for the past 24 hours.  If that’s how long it’s been.  He wasn’t sure anymore.

Hearing someone approach his cell, Anthony looked over, grimacing at who it was.  “What?  Here to gloat?  Tell me how you always thought I was some psycho murderer and I’m gonna get what I deserve?”  His tone was bitter, defeat weighing heavily on the man.  Even if he was able to prove his innocence, he would have to live a life without Dante.  And on top of that, word would absolutely reach Madison and her family, and he could kiss his visitation rights goodbye.  There was nothing left for him out there.  Nothing.

She knocked quietly on the office door, waiting patiently for Ares to open it.  “Hi,” she signed with a smile.  “I actually have a day off so I thought I would drop by for a visit.”  Also Celeste was a bit worried.  Since her friend lived near the edge of town she imagined his commute to work was a bit scary.

She’s been working as a stripper and sometimes more since she moved to town.

Ruby loves her job despite the reputation it holds.

She was old friends with Raziel when they were younger.

She ran into again Raziel while working at the club and took pity on him as his colleagues seemed to be pressuring him into being there. 

After that every time his colleagues would push him to join them or hire girls to go places with them Ruby was there to take him away from most of the action. The two would spend their time talking and a genuine fondness reformed. 

Eventually Ruby would visit him at work often but while the office gossiped the two would spend most of their time eating take out and talking shit. 

If anything more went on behind closed doors it was between the two of them. 

Ruby had made plans to stay the night at Raziel’s the day she went missing. 

He was the last person to speak to her.

1986 AU

Arkwright Ōulù (讴璐), born in Hong Kong in 1954.

Training from an early age, Ōulù became a renowned ballerina for both the Central Ballet Troupe and The Royal Ballet.

With her beauty and talent Ōulù had many men chasing after her, and even a number of women.  She would entertain them until she grew bored, moving on to the next suitor.  Ōulù never intended to start a real romance, that would be a distraction from her dancing.

Bilingual: speaks Cantonese and English.

During a tour in London Ōulù met Marcus and she quickly fell in love, despite her commitment to ballet.

Moving to England to be with Marcus, Ōulù spent a great deal of time as a ballet teacher until she discovered some horrible news:  she was incapable of becoming pregnant.  This threw Ōulù into a deep state of chronic depression, losing her job in the process as her lack of passion reflected in her work.

With a great deal of effort Ōulù was able to drag herself out of her misery, a new goal in life to give her purpose:  she would open a nursery.  If she could not have children of her own then at least she could have the joy of spending her days with them.

Marcus has been spending more and more time at the clinic, his specialty in high demand at the moment, and Ōulù can’t help but feel this is all related to the terrible fog that’s blanketed the town.
