Voting for our leaders for the next 6 years will be one of the most important decisions that we, as a collective of Filipinos of this generation, will ever make. 

I have never seen this much support from fellow Filipinos. I will always and forever take pride in knowing that I’m surrounded with people who stand for what’s right. I hope that we all vote for the leader that this country deserves; our country’s future depends on us. Never for personal agendas, all for the country. Here’s to a better Philippines.

E3 2021 Day 2: Day one of E3 wrapped up on 13th June 2021 in Los Angeles, USA.

Day 2 was the day of the green as Xbox steamed in with their recent acquisition of Bethseda and it was a showcase of legacy, cross-platform promotion of its latest releases, and most importantly Halo Infinite! The event was further juiced up by the PC gaming and future games show. Naraka Bladepoint had an impactful opening to a great day that followed suit.

Tokyo Auto Salon Weekend 2019

Busy. Hectic. Fulfilling. Exciting.

Tokyo Auto Salon weekend was all of those things for me. The festivities began with the annual Rauh-Welt Begriff meeting and party at Hard Rock Cafe. From what I’ve been told, this year may be the final year for the event at Hard Rock Cafe, and with it being well publicized, there was no shortage of car tourists and YouTubers in addition to the usual Idlers crowd. The meet was exactly what one would expect; RWB customized Porsches during a freezing cold night in the heart of Tokyo. The party required a cover charge that included an all you can eat and drink buffet. Nakai-san definitely knows how to host. I linked up with some old friends, both Japanese and American RWB owners and we chopped it up for a while.

It’s been said that the natural progression for Subaru enthusiasts is to get a Porsche. I don’t necessarily disagree with that. Admittedly, I’m hesitant to get a 911 or a Cayman because of money and the stigma that they’re “widow-makers.” I still whole-heartedly love Subaru as a brand and have every intention on purchasing a brand new BRZ STI Sport as soon as my finances allow me to do so. Affirmation, right? While having this very conversation with a 993 owner, he understood where I was coming from. For him, his daily is a VAB WRX STI and his weekender happens to be an RWB 911.

The following day had me and Fuji Select cohort Ben sitting in some vicious traffic on the way to Tokyo Auto Salon. We had advance, VIP tickets for Friday which meant we got to avoid the bigger crowds. Having a head start means that we could freely move around to the different halls of Makuhari Messe without much of a headache. Unfortunately, we were traveling from Kanagawa during rush hour traffic. What would typically be a little over two hours became a nearly four. I thought ahead and drove the family car instead of us sitting in stop-and-go traffic in the cockpit of an NSX. Once there, it was all good.

I’ll put together an album that’s a bit more focused on the TAS coverage so things feel a lot less cluttered in a blog entry. There was so much heat. Shown above is the Mugen RC20GT, a workover of the new Honda Civic Type-R (FK8). It’s gaudy, obnoxious, aggressive, and absolutely beautiful.

I must admit that I have no idea why people dislike the new Supra. The body lines are nice and it will serve its purpose well. I can see this car being a favorite among those who want a fairly luxurious, comfortable, grand tourer. Then again, it’s always those on the internet who don’t have the means or intention to purchase debut cars with the most to say. I, for one, look forward to renting and driving this when it becomes available.

I will never pass up an opportunity to shoot the GT300 BRZ and buy merchandise from Subaru, even if I don’t need it. Here’s hoping that this upcoming Super GT season results in a podium for STI and me owning the engineering for myself. Again, affirmation.

Of all the vendors at TAS, I enjoy Deep Lifestyles the most. DPLS is a streetwear brand based out of Los Angeles. They have representation in Taiwan and have collaborated with some of the who’s-who of the automotive world for clothing and other merch. As you can see, they’re in bed with both RWB and Car Guy, giving them more than enough credibility here in Japan. Additionally, their booth plays the best music, has a lively group of models, and are stylistically light years ahead of most other brands.

D4: Daniel Padilla Back At The Araneta concert coverage experience

It’s been (quite) more than a week since I was assigned to be part of MOR 101.9′s coverage for Daniel Padilla’s concert at the Araneta Coliseum. To date, this is one of the major event involvement that I have experienced in my stay with ABS-CBN for more than a year. I wasn’t aware of how involved MOR is when it comes to Daniel Padilla’s concerts but I understand the need - after all, Daniel is one of the biggest stars of my home network.

Our call time in Araneta was 1PM and I arrived a little late because of the traffic and all (lol). I only have two colleagues from MOR with me - one production assistant and one video editor, and during the concert proper, it was only me and the production assistant who were left to represent MOR because the video editor needed to go back to the office due to his other work commitments. Angelica (the PA) and I have the same personality - we’re both shy to approach people, which became quite a challenge for us, but we also needed to stretch out ourselves in order to do our jobs properly. We had to get shots during Daniel’s rehearsals and interview his guests on the backstage, and thankfully, we have DJ Jhai Ho (one of ABS-CBN’s famous showbiz reporters and an MOR DJ) to help us since he’s really close with the Padillas and has the exclusive permission of the family, road manager, and other staff related to Daniel.

We thought this won’t be a problem but the marshals on the event were unreasonably strict, given that our DJ knows our Head from Star Creatives (who was also there and the marshals can see we’re talking to him) and that we had the directive to really cover the event to produce content for MOR. We had difficulties in shooting some of the interviews, especially after the concert - we were the last ones to be done and the marshals had their chance first to ask for Daniel to have pictures with them before giving us the permission to interview him (so unfair and all!!). During the concert proper as well, Angelica and I - along with the other people from the media covering the concert - did not know where to place ourselves in the arena because the marshals kept on transferring us from one area to another, saying that we are not allowed on this side and the other. It was so confusing and frustrating! We understand that they were only doing their jobs as much as we were but their approach wasn’t really nice (it was so degrading for the staff, given that we have our media and all access IDs!!) and that they were so disorganized and misinformed. 

Despite of those fiasco we experienced, the concert was good after all. I’ve never seen Daniel Padilla before at work and honestly, I was shocked that he can really sing live and he is good, and during the concert, his sincerity for his adoration to Kathryn Bernardo is so real (she’s so pretty as well!). I enjoyed the concert even if the backstage experience was stressful, and what’s more important is that we got to still function with our specific tasks and deliver good shots that our boss was happy with.

PS. My photos have crappy quality because that’s how haggard I became during the event (haha!). I also took less because I was really focused on capturing good shots for our office camera.
