15 Questions with eventdoom!!! # 8
Welcome to a brand spanking new 15 Questions with eventdoom!!! So after a super long hiatus I’m relaunching with a new monthly format! That’s right monthly for right now anyway. The reason being I would like to keep to my commitments to you my loyal followers in the Doom Nation as I work on bringing you content across the board! So without further hesitation I present to you 15 Questions with the man the myth the legend and all around great guy Steve White!!!!
Doom: Ok Steve, if that is your real name… (Looks at Steve with suspicion) Let’s start this a bit different, you being a big time actor and all, what’s your favorite movie?
Steve: Favorite movie of all time is definitely True Romance Great Tarantino script and all star cast. Its got to be one of the most under appreciated films ever.
Doom: Personally I'm a sucker for anything Tarantino Inglourious Basterds being one of my favorites! So Mr. White, ( Tarantino Pun Intended.) What first attracted you to acting?
Steve: I was first attracted to acting as a little kid. I would see these characters in movies jumping from explosions and kissing beautiful women and I thought “These guys get paid to do this?!?! That is the job for me.”
Doom: (Laughs) I'm starting to think I got into the wrong field. Ok so what’s your favorite genre of film?
Steve: Favorite film genre changes all the time. I’m really into westerns right now, probably because I want to be in one. But I can never say no to a horror flick! So much fun!
Doom: I'm a big horror fan myself, however I'm a sucker for a sci-fi or fantasy epic, but enough of that! On with The Questioning! Did that sound epic? Never mind let's continue. What skills do you think are most important to your craft?
Steve: Listening. You can't make the acting about you or your next line. Its about what the other character says, how you're affected by it and responding in the moment. Thats what works for me anyway. Everyones style is different though.
Doom: And style is something you do ooze sir! So let me ask have you ever done voice acting?
Steve: I HAVE done voice acting. Super fun stuff. Pretty much the same as film except you can roll up in sweats and skip the trip to hair and makeup (chuckles).
Doom: That does sound like fun. So what challenges you most about acting?
Steve: The networking game! As an up and comer meeting new people and connections is a big part of the job. I would so much prefer to focus on the acting.
Doom: Tell me about it, networking eats up more of my time than the actual work does. but that's neither here nor there. What is though is this next question! What are your feelings on trend of post editing movies in 3d to maximize profit but not contrIbute to the feel of the movie itself?
Steve: I'm ok with it either way. Films are art, and if the creator wants his final product in 3d thats fine. Sometimes it works out great, sometimes not. Same way with all films. But experimenting with the newest styles is how our industry can change and evolve.
Doom: Not gonna lie that was pretty great answer and now I think I'm developing a man crush (chuckles) Ok, Ok, let's keep this going If you had to choose a wild west partnership who would you choose, Roland (The Dark Tower Series) or The Lone Ranger?
Steve: Roland of course! I'm obsessed with those books right now! They've tried to make the movie a few times, but sadly it hasn't come through.
Doom: Yeah Roland would have been my choice too! So if you could star in a big budget remake of any movie what would it be?
Steve: The Dirty Dozen, definitely! I've actually thought about that one before. It"s sort of a dream project for me.
Doom: Being the charming and talented person you are, do you have any other artistic pursuits other than acting?
Steve: Acting will always be my main pursuit but when I have the time, I write. Nothing ever comes out of it, I always get distracted by a new role. Not complaining.
Doom: Well being distracted by more acting work does sound like a good problem to have (laughs) OK, If you could share one fact about yourself that you feel more people should know what would it be?.
Steve: Hmm… I'm kind of an open book… Though not many people know that when my sister and I were kids, I had her convinced for like a year that a homeless man lived in our basement and would get her if she ever went down there. (laughs hysterically)
Doom: WOW! (laughs loudly) So wish I would have thought of that! SOOOOO... When I finish my movie script will you read it and tell me what you think? (laughs)
Steve: Of course man! Looking forward to it! I hope you wrote me a role in it.
Doom: Awesome! Of course you can have a role in it you can have any role you want! Although personally I'd cast you as the male lead. Moving along though, what do you feel is more important character development or story progression?
Steve: I think they sort of go hand in hand. A character's development can be the progression of the story. BUT, the characters are who we as an audience fall in love with. If we don't care about them then we don't want to watch their story.
Doom: What is with these great answers? Are you practicing on me for In The Actor's Studio? Ok, enough kidding, let's move forward. So far what was your favorite moment of your career?
Steve: Watching a Chevy commercial I was in on the Super Bowl was pretty fun. Getting the final shot of my feature April Grace was really cathartic too.
Doom: Final question, what advice would you give to any actors looking to start their career?
Steve: Get trained! Get good! Then do everything! Say yes to every opportunity. All those shitty student films and unpaid indies and unpaid theatre in someone's basement all lead to something better eventually. Accumulate a LARGE body of work! The people you meet will call you back for their next bigger shoot or introduce you to their agent friend or someone will see the shoot and remember you. When you start out just do it all.
Well that's all she wrote for now. I'd like to again thank Steve White for his time. I must say this was by far the most fun I had doing a 15 Questions! Well until next time! Stay healthy and stay positive! We will be back with our next installment on the first Wednesday of the next month!
