Arséne Lupin versus Le Papillon
I wrote a fic last year called “Everybody Knows, Marinette” that was supposed to be pure crack: literally the “Everybody’s Dead, Dave” scene from Red Dwarf but with Principal Damocles calmly informing Marinette that everybody at school (except Adrien) knows she’s Ladybug.
Except then it grew a second half in which Damocles realizes the disturbing implications of the fact that Marinette didn’t know everyone knew, and resolves to have his old friend, M. Arséne Lupin, gentleman thief (retired) come in and give everyone lessons in the art of espionage. The readers loved this idea and wanted a continuation.
I don’t see myself writing that continuation anytime soon, and I’d love to see what other authors might do with it.
