Alright its late and my memory might be faulty but either Nancy or Temperance said that the Hat Man Entity was freezing the hearts of small creatures like rats because its easier than practising on a human (and less noticeable I bet)

And then at the end of the episode Bess asked Temperance about Kegstand and whether that was why Temperance agreed to teach bess, to get the energy she needed from Bess to resurrect other creatures I suppose

I think there was a point I was trying to make but currently all I can tell is that Yes, Temperance needs Bess and she isn't teaching her out of the goodness of her heart and also the entity is probably feeding of someone's energy so I'm gonna go with the crack route and say its Amanda.
