Unsatisfied.
241. The Replacements, Let It Be **** how to begin an album: I Will Dare. This song is on my track one/side one playlist— and it’s the first one. Taking a risk, tapping into that feeling of stepping into the unknown. This album is a coming of age 80s movie. A rooftop session, drunk and sad and hopeful. A timeless ode to the turmoil of growth and change. Unsatisfied.
315. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Damn the Torpedos ***** This album is golden. The hits are great but it’s Louisiana Rain that I kinda fell in love with in this recent listening. It’s like a really good country song without being country. Also, why does this list have room for Bruce Springsteen’s “Tunnel of Love” but not for “Wildflowers”?! Travesty.
460. Hole Live Through This **** I loved this album at 14. I stopped loving it when it wasn’t cool. But not I’m not cool so I love it again. Courtney love is the mind of damaged person that makes a great song writer. The over production is a little much for the genre and Doll Parts was important at 14 for sure, but now I’ll pass. But when the album begins it is so recognizable— another great 1st track choice— Violet is an iconic song all 90s girls know from those first chords. Also, who knew I’d go to school. In Olympi-YAI-YAI-YAI-YAI-YAI?!
