Can we talk about this? Katniss says she’s not used to being touched, EXCEPT BY PEETA or her family! CF pg. 81. She’s USED to being touched by him. So natural for her.

Later, in MJ while mourning for Peeta, she again refuses to be touched except by Haymitch, page 163, BECAUSE HE LOVES PEETA TOO!! So much significance in this! Ughh! Please share your thoughts!

I finally did it!

For @everlarkedalways birthday, I finished recording my audio recording of THG, complete with opening/ end credit tracks. Lol. BTW.... this is far more difficult than you may think.

She tells me my voice is soothing. I secretly think she just wants an audio track to help fall asleep at night. 😊

Day Two: Everlark Gifts

Ever since they started dating, Katniss felt that she was at a distinct disadvantage when it came to giving gifts. Peeta’s family was better off than hers, and though she didn’t begrudge him that, his wealth, coupled with the fact that gift-giving was his primary love language, always made her homemade presents feel somewhat simple by comparison, however much Peeta genuinely delighted over them.

But this Christmas, their fourth as husband and wife, she’s finally going to one up him. She smiles as she sets the positive test in a neat red box, stuffed with festive gold paper. All the pearl necklaces and expensive trips in the world can’t hold a candle to this homemade surprise.

I just finished The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and one thought keeps circling around in my head.

SPOILERS! MAJOR SPOILERS!

The final moments between Lucy and Snow felt like a mirror to the end of the 74th Hunger Games. I feel like Snow kept waiting for Katniss to do what he did, turn on Peeta to save herself. This idea probably carried through the rest of the series where he just kept waiting for her to save herself like he did. Any thoughts on this?

So I saw this prompt on @everlarkedalways blog asking what your hunger games story is and I thought, ok, it will be good to reflect on the past lol. Here goes.

So as most of you know I’m young, like high school young, so the books came out when I was still a toddler lol. So I actually saw the movies first, at home. My dad and I have always been big dystopian fans so he watched the movies one night and I vaguely remember sitting with him and watching thg, cf, and mj1. Mj2 hadn’t been released yet. I was intrigued but I was not at the age to read ya yet so I didn’t. I think I was visiting my grandparents in another state a year or two later and my mom bought the trilogy, the same exact copies I still have today, at a thrift store. I got through thg, cf, and half of mockingjay before I quit lol. Years go by and I hadn’t really thought about the series or movies much(I did watch mj2 though when it came out), until 8th grade. My friend who is no longer my friend bc of reasons decided he and I would read the books. We read them in less than a month(I think I finished by October) and then became obsessed with Peeta and Katniss. I bought the movie set for Christmas that year and watched them all at least 8 times in a row(no joke) without stopping over that break. Then I stumbled upon fanfiction. It honestly has changed my life. I also found tumblr and decided to create an account that had nothing to do with fandoms lol just so I could read from tumblr and ff.net(at this time I kinda hated ao3 bc I didn’t understand it lol). This year I changed my tumblr and felt compelled to write some of my own fanfic and I’m so so so happy I did. Anyway, that’s my story. I think the most important thing to come out of this is thg are the first ya/dystopian books I have ever read. Now I’m obsessed with all things ya. I think that thg is my fall back fandom meaning when I explore another fandom and become bored I come back to this series and feel relieved that it’s in my life. Also I forgot to mention but I love ao3 now. Oh also, I love all of you and am so happy to have met you through this series!❤️

I know some not great stuff has happened before but that makes this event all the more exciting. It’s so neat to see some people want to keep the fandom alive and positive so thanks to whoever is running this. Thank you Ara for sticking this fandom out and coming back again and again, you are a huge part of this fandom’s history and continue to keep the everlark love alive even though you have a huge family and busy life. Hopefully I get to come to toastcon someday and meet you.
