“Too many confuse foolish pride for bravery. Such bravado rarely has a history to support it and breaks like brittle shale at the slightest hint of danger.” A pessimistic view, perhaps, but it was realistic in his mind.
His gaze settled on the tome in his lap to allow himself a moment to think before he spoke again.
Ameridan still wasn’t sure how he felt about the woman. She reminded him of Vivienne, though perhaps a little less...stoic? No. That wasn’t the right word. Both had an air of power and authority about them, but Angela’s was more tolerable.
