eversailedinafirefly replied to your post:Hi! I'm from the US, so English is my native, but I'm passable in Spanish. I'd really love to learn Italian and Greek, because that's where my family is from. I can, however, curse pretty well in Italian, German, and Chinese, just a couple of select phrases I've gleaned from books and people who speak such languages. I can also write in the Elvish alphabet, and I'd love to learn to speak it. I did use to know a couple phrases in Finnish because I had a friend who lived there, but I've forgotten.
It was really basic phrases, “hello”, “goodbye”, “how are you”, “thank you”. I was in the sixth grade, so swearing was not my focus :) Thank you for offering to reteach!
Hello - hei, moi or terve
Goodbye - hei hei, moi moi, heippa, moikka or hyvästi if you never want to see them again
How are you? - Mitä kuuluu? (but if you ask a Finn, you have to really want to know, because Finns usually answer with more than "good")
Thank you - kiitos
But because swearing is important:
Shit - paska
Damn - hitto
Fuck - there are several that work for this: vittu, saatana, perkele, jumalauta. Or you can just use them all "jumalauta saatanan vittu perkele!!!" xD
