Returning to America after having spent the last three months in Japan was definitely a culture shock for Erika- but oh was it good to find herself back at her American Mansion Home…

Ever since her dear mother had to move to Tokyo upon Constance’s entry into Gracey Manor, Erika had taken it upon herself to spend half of her time with her mother in Japan, and the other half with her father and sister in America. It was a lot of travel, bit nothing an endless staircase room connecting all haunted locations could fix. The deathly still air of her familiar home was welcoming to the ghost girl, her suitcase in both hands as she admired the familiar sights and decor that surrounded her.

Home Sweet Home indeed…

Well- once she had actually gotten out of this room of nearly endless, winding staircases and into the main hall of the mansion yet again.

With a skip in her step that was exactly what she did, heart pounding and a smile on her face at the thought of seeing her dear father and little sister again- and she had even brought gifts and snacks from her journey to share!

Her mind was already racing with excitement as she approached the correct door, twisting the knob as her mind anticipated what she was going to come home to, there always seemed to be something exciting happening at Gracey Manor, it was one of the things she had missed most about the place while she had been abroad.

CHILDHOOD HEADCANON:

Erika’s favourite ballet as a child was ‘Swan Lake’, though potentially the most popular, it was the very story that introduced her to ballet and the works of Tchaikovsky. It wasn’t at all uncommon to find the young ghost girl in her full ballet gear outside of her lessons, attempting to recreate the choreography she had once seen in the production. One year she was able to convince her father to make her a costume from it for halloween- a dress that allowed her to swap between Odette and Odile.

It was a story she would share with the other ghosts after seeing performances, and it had always been close to her heart- even having a book of the story on her nightstand. She often dreamed of being able to dance in this incredible ballet.

Even nowadays, though she has many favourite ballets after being exposed to and even performing in them- Swan Lake is very close to Erika’s heart and brought her to where she is today.

You can only imagine her happiness when she got the chance to actually play Odette in a production held by her ballet academy in Auradon…

⭐️- Randall has had many, many journals over the centuries, filled to the brim with many, many designs-chiefly hats, of course, but he's also sketched dresses and accessories, filling them up front to back with not only these sketches, but suggestions for colors and patterns (including a few swatches tucked between the pages), as well as little notes about lengths, cuts, and so forth. He has them stacked up by his work station, and would let Evie (and her siblings) look through them when they asked, happy to show them what a term meant, or show them what color he referenced looked like.

⭐️- Randall, ever the worrier parent between him and Emily, was always very watchful of the children, and Evie, of course, was no exception-although they're ghosts and therefore can't die again, he still worried when Evie went out to dance in the summer rain in the graveyard, worrying she'd come down with an illness as a result. However, her enthusiasm was infectious, and so Randall found himself dancing with her, with them soon joined by Emily, Lon, and Erika, all of them enjoying the warm downpour before heading inside to dry off and bundle up together in front of the fire with some blankets and hot drinks.

Evie reaches a shy hand over and brushes her dad’s tears away. She smiles softly at him. “So…what do you want to know..?”

"Everything," he confessed-admittedly, as he tried to think of what he wanted to know the most, he found he simply couldn't, and so instead, he opted to let his youngest child lead the way, saying, "Tell me everything, everything you can think of!"

“Well…” Evie Looks back up with glassy eyes. “It’s just you and me right now dad….I finally get to know all about you.”

"That you do," Randall smiled, as he continued to brush away the tears as they continued to well up in his pale, glassy eyes, adding, "And...I get to know all about you too, everything I...I didn't get a chance to know when I was gone, but...now have a chance to."

“I must’ve got that from you Dad. I remember Mom used to tickle you when you got grumpy…” Evie hugs him tighter and lays her forehead on his shoulder. “It was so hard without you dad..”

"I'm sure it was," he sighed heavily, hugging her tight as he continued, "And if I could've had it my way, I would have never left you, your siblings, or your mother, I...I wanted to stay. If I could have, I would have, I...I would've given anything to stay, and watch you three grow up..."

His eyes began to well up with tears as he spoke, and he quickly turned away to hide them, quickly brushing them away as he embraced her tightly.

“Well i mean..I kinda had to be observant because you always had me on your hip.” Evie chuckles. “I remember mom telling you to stop stealing her baby all the time because you were always holding me.”

At that, Randall chuckled shyly, before admitting, "I, uh...I did enjoy holding you as a wee one. You and your siblings both-I just...I was so happy to be a papa, it felt like a dream to hold you, and I...I dunno, maybe I thought if I let you go, the dream would end..."

Silly, perhaps, but true, as he recalled the memories with a quiet fondness, adding, "You were a very ticklish baby; I only had to so much as look at you, and you'd start giggling. I think that made it even harder to put you down."

“Oh okay maybe not jealous per say but…possessive. I have certain memories of you watching mom from a far.” Evie chuckles. “You can’t even deny it, Dad.”

No, no, he couldn't deny that, but still, Randall smiled and chuckled a touch sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck as he joked, "Didn't think I was that obvious about it, but...well, perhaps we can chalk that up to you being...observant. A lot like your grandmother, in that regard."
