I wish there was a birdflash fic out there in which Wally found out about Barry Allen being the Flash, tried to copy the experiment, but was spirited away while he was recovering in the hospital. After years of searching, people gave up and the courts announced him dead. His parents’ marriage fell apart after that and Barry Allen blamed himself despite Iris assuring him it wasn’t his fault. After that, Barry allows Batman to destroy any traces of the notes for the experiment.
Then, as if from nowhere, an assassin with super speed reveals himself by mistake. It happens while the police are investigating a disappearance, and Flash decides to check it out himself. The assassin goes by Velocity, and Flash is astonished. Another speedster? How is that possible?
And in this au, Batman cracked down hard on Dick when he was young. No crime fighting, no sirree bob. Dick wasn’t happy in the least, but after a few failed attempts at breaking out and helping Bruce, Dick gave up. So Dick became a gymnast at school, as well as becoming the mathlete Bruce encouraged him to become. Dick and a team of young male gymnasts won the silver for the USA before Dick was kidnapped by the Joker and could no longer preform for reasons the press never quite explained.
And Velocity’s taken notice, right? And Dick’s so smart, and he’s so handsome, and he’s basically a teen heart throb despite being in college now. And Velocity’s so freaking in love, he can’t handle it. So what does he do? He kidnaps him.
Unfortunately, DaddyBats is very much a thing, and Velocity has to run to save his hide. Batman obviously asks if anything happened, but Dick is just all “he didn’t hurt me or anything, wouldn’t even touch me, actually he was strangely accommodating, this is actually the most comfortable kidnapping I’ve ever experienced. I rate it five stars” okay, that dialogue got out of hand but you see my point.
So Velocity decides to take his civilian identity and reveal himself to his family. Unfortunately, his parents don’t live in their old house and he doesn’t remember phone numbers, so he goes to Aunt Iris instead. And tearful reunions happen and blah blah blah.
The thing is, Dick’s not the only Wayne boy. Bruce also took in Jason Todd, and Dick occasionally babysits Tim Drake (who’s fifteen now and doesn’t need a babysitter but whatever I guess) and then there’s Damien, the only one who refuses to listen to Bruce about the “no patrolling with me” rule b/c he was raised by assassins. And when Dick relates his really weird kidnapping, they all get super protective. Because Velocity’s a freaking creep, kidnapping their brother cause he has the hots for him? What the freaking hell.
Meanwhile, Wally confesses to Uncle B that he does know Barry’s identity, but he would never and has never revealed it to anyone. Barry Allen doesn’t know what to think, and Wally assures him the experiment failed to give him super speed so he ran away in shame and embarrassment. Liar. Barry promises that it’s fine- Wally was just a kid, and he’s back now anyway. His parents will forgive him.
Then Wally meets Dick, and Dick is immediately charmed by his dorky nerdiness. Wally is way too flustered and doesn’t know how to handle meeting the guy he’s totally in love with, but it’s okay because Dick finds that adorable. Dick’s brother Damien though doesn’t trust Wally. He feels like Wally is familiar (and realize, Wally’s an assassin but that doesn’t mean Damien will immediately recognize him it just means that Wally would know Damien as some sort of royalty type thing if he was introduced to him as an Al Ghul or the son of the Bat).
But Wally’s boss/mentor/thing, some lower level assassin in Al Ghul’s ranks, is hunting Wally down, looking for him high and low. Wally needs to be absolutely careful not to make Dick realize he’s Velocity while also making sure his boss/mentor/thing doesn’t find them.
Then imagine Dick finding out that Wally is Velocity and just freaking out. Just picture that.
I know no one will ever write this, because I came up with every little detail so it’s super specific and I’ll never find something this specific, but shhhh. Let a girl dream.
