Okay so, I’ve been reluctant towards watching evil dead 2 since I’ve heard it’s more ”comedy” coded. I just watched evil dead 2 and I can say that yeah, it sucked. Like it still had its horror moments that I liked but the kind of “comedy aspect” to it just didn’t feel right? It felt so different from the first movie where you actually felt some type of fear with the deadites and the situation the characters were in.
The comedy was fine, i just felt like it doesn’t really suit evil dead as a franchise. This is coming from someone that loves the first movie more than the remake and evil dead rise!
For me horror and comedy is a very special feeling? I guess? Not too much “silliness” in a horror movie, unless it’s intended to be like a comedy horror of course.
Needless to say, I will probably watch army of darkness just so I can get like a whole picture of the franchise, but I will also say that I am disappointed that they went for the comedy aspect for the second and third movie. Watching evil dead 2 made me feel like “yeah they shouldn’t have made any more evil dead movies” lol.
But that’s just me! Anyway! That’s the end of my rant
