Am I the only one who really loves Jay's character after what happened to him at the Administration? Like, I never minded him before, but at the same time nothing about him really spoke to me. I don't know if it's because he was always just the "goofball" in the show or what. Maybe it's because even though Ninjago did give him a backstory and funny personality, they never really dove deeper into his character. I mean, all that we really knew about him was his silly personality, that he has loved Nya since the start, his love for video games, and the fact that he's the Lightning Ninja. Everything else was briefly explained and forgotten later on throughout the show (inventor, the fact he's adopted, etc). And while I know that we don't have to repeat these things, it just seemed like the show forgot to add sources of this information throughout the rest of the seasons after Skybound. I could be remembering wrong --- forgive me if I am --- but I don't know... I just was never invested in his character, I guess. Now, however, as I watch him after Dragons Rising, I have really begun to like him, and I am enjoying his character more from past seasons after watching these new seasons. I don't know, maybe I'm the weird one, and maybe I just like it when favorite characters go "evil" and become the villains (true), but either way, I am enjoying his character more now from past seasons as I watch the show, and I'm really hoping Ninjago keeps writing him in this way and doesn't automatically make him the "hero" again once he remembers his past. I'm really hoping they keep the idea going for a while until he eventually figures and remembers everything out in a respectable time frame. Anyways, just a thought. Wanted to get it out of my brain lol. Evil Jay is definitely something I've been enjoying thoroughly haha

its not that in dr s2 jay shouldve won the jay v nya because hes stronger than her. because in canon even with the shatterspin hes lost his memory and years of training and had very little time to hone his skills in general, while nya had all her life. its that jay's number one skills are speed and agility. and most importantly - nya's loss wouldnt subtract anything from the story. we'd still have her there as a character. after so long of not having jay around we got 5 minutes with him. he shouldve won because it would add to the character dynamics, to his development which all of we've had off screen basically and to the overall story. i genuinely think either jay winning that match OR putting their match further in the tournament instead of their first rounds would've been a better writing choice

Honestly I liked the idea of Jay gaining his memories back but not his soul (at least yet) a lot better than “oh he has no memories so he’ll just regain them along with his soul”.

Because imagine you are finally yourself again… but there’s a piece of you missing. That you can never get back.

It would drive him crazy all over again. Because since he has all of his memories back and he knows the harm he’s done to his family but none of the emotions or empathy to care. He just continues to do evil things because his soul is shattered for good, and none of the ninja know how to deal with it. Like he doesn’t think any of them would want him anymore, even tho we all know Nya would be there for him all the way.
