Theresa’s mouse being malicious and wanting to conquer the world and human population, and regarding her as his human slave, is the most hilarious headcanon I ever have for RC9GN. (And Theresa has never suspected him having any traces of malice lol)

the marvel shows are an interesting marketing technique by disney - suddenly, if you're invested in the mcu, you have to have a subscription to disney+ in order to understand the films.

(for example: the end credits scene of black widow would make no sense to someone who hadn't watched tfatws, and wandavision and loki will both presumably have an impact on where the mcu movies are heading in the future)

Disney live-action remakes are fucking insidious, they know exactly what they're doing.

Like they know that they're making hollow facsimiles of beloved originals that won't have any of the staying power. They don't care whether or not it's received well critically. All it has to do is remind people of an original and make them think about how much better it was. It's an exercise in myth-making and brand recognition. They want you to be dissatisfied and upset with the remakes because those are emotional responses that can be leveraged into making your attachment to the original stronger.

It's manufacturing a 'classic' by cranking out an inferior version that makes the original look better by comparison. Disney's aggressive copyright protection isn't because they don't want representations of characters and stories that don't meet their standards, they know that fan works and even cynical copies of existing works only serve to bolster the reputation and fanatic culture around them. They just want to get to also profit off it as well.

Disney wants you to look at an ugly CGI homunculus and get annoyed so that you go watch the original on Disney plus. The fact that they get to make a few million at the box office off some stunt casting and nostalgic parents is just a bonus.
