FORMERLY A FEMALE GORILLA!
...GOOD! NOT A SISSY IN THE LOT!
365 DC Comics Paper Cut-Out Villains - One Villain, Every Day, All Year…
August 3rd - Eviless
The sinister villainess known as Eviless heralds from an advanced subterranean civilization deep under the surface of Saturn. This society was a slave state and Eviless its master slaver. She traveled to earth seeing it as an easy planet to concur so to provide Saturn a new supply of laborers. This scheme was dashed by Wonder Wiman who defeated Eviless and imprisoned the villain on Transformation Island. The effort to rehabilitate Eviless failed and the villainess used it as an opportunity to unite several of Wonder Woman’s foes together as the first iteration of Villainy Incorporated. Fortunately, Wonder Woman was able to prevail against the combined forces of Villainy Inc., but Eviless would return time and again to battle the heroine. The villainess first appeared in the pages of Wonder Woman #10 (1944).

Wonder Woman: Steve Trevor Special #1
…OR “Wonder Woman: Steve Trevor *is* Special #1”
Wonder Woman’s boyfriend is constantly there in the background, waiting for her with some encouraging words and cuddles when superheroing gets her down. We also know that in between cuddles he’s a military spy, but the comics rarely focus on this (unless he eventually needs his lady’s rescue). This special is here to tell us a little more about the man behind THE woman. Let’s get to it!
1. The villain formerly known as Eviless
First, I get a whole story about Steve Trevor! Second, the Crimson Centipede makes an appearance! Third, one of the greatest Wonder Woman villains of all time shows up! In Wonder Woman v1 #10 (one of the weirdest and most classic WW issues of all time), beings from Saturn show up to enslave humanity. One of the Saturn guards, Eviless, takes a special liking to torturing Steve Trevor. Wonder Woman eventually convinces her to come to Reform Island to get rid of her evilness, but with a name like *that* how could it stick?!
She later goes on to assemble Villainy inc (“Not a sissy in the lot”™) in WW v1 #28, but hasn’t been around since then. In this issue she makes her glorious return as SATURNA, leader of a militia who believes that the world will perish *under blood red skies* (that’s more Jupiter, but whatever! It’s planetary!). And she’s still got her whip, which she had in her original appearance as well! I’m here for this, especially since we may see more of her in the future. Heck yeah!
2. Steve Trevor’s Holliday Girls
The Saturn Girls, who were foes of Wonder Woman during the Golden Age. As you might guess, they come from the planet Saturn, a slave society in which most of the population is enslaved. Among the free population, role is decided by gender: women are slave drivers, whereas men devote themselves to science and war. I notice that even among free people, the men are called “great men” while the women are merely “free girls” which suggests to me some sexism in the society as well; there's also clearly a class hierarchy, since the ones on Earth followed the orders of a duke, and an Emperor rules the planet.
Their practice of slavery likely comes from the fact that they are hyper-rational, devoted only to what is best for Saturn as a whole with little care for emotions or morality, and are also cruel, domineering, and even sadistic when it's not irrational or over-emotional to be so. Basically, they're a bunch of dicks. Who also have some mild psychic powers, enabling them to telepathically block the senses of Earthlings, making them inaudible and invisible, thus able to go about their nefarious invasion/conquest plot unnoticed. They look entirely like humans, specifically humans of white descent, though they're notably tall, fit/muscular, and attractive by Earth standards. Also, unlike Earth, where brunettes are the vast majority, half the Saturn population is blond and there's a higher number of redheads as well. They were retconned out of canon Post-Crisis, but seem to be the inspiration for the heroine Saturn Girl and villainess Saturn Queen, both of whom are psychic women from Saturn. I don't know why I'm interested in them but I am. Must be something about a tall buff woman who wants to tie me up. god why am I like this
