I know she’s mainstream but I like Hayley Williams, purely because her voice is awesome live and her lyrics are pretty good but I feel like I’ll find someone new very soon.
Obsessions: Have any hobbies?
Blogging probably counts as a hobby, I’ll read if I have time and finding places in NY that do awesome English food is an ongoing project of mine.
Guilty: Have you ever been in trouble with the law?
No, but I’ve had a few near misses. There was almost a law suit over some information I wrote for public consumption but that was easily sorted. I got let off with a warning for speeding instead of getting a ticket but my visa means that I have to be on my best behaviour so I try not to do anything that could get me in trouble.
Violet had finally got to Castle Bam. Getting lost on the way there didn't help her situation. Pulling her suitcases out of her car and slamming the boot, she walked to the gate and punched in the code before dragging her cases to the door. 'This is embarrassing,' she thought. Ringing the bell she waited for someone to come to the door. 'Why, am I even here. I'm a mess and I should just go...' Violet turned around before stopping in her tracks, 'but where?' Then the door opened behind her.
Bam was zoned out in front of the TV, riding a mild buzz, when he heard the doorbell. That was the first thing that struck him as odd; if someone knew the gate code, they were generally allowed to just walk through the door.
On the other hand, the skater was having a rare introverted day, so he'd made it pretty clear to the usual house rats that he wanted to be alone. Bam took a chance that his aunt Ruth was still milling around cleaning somewhere, so he called out for her. "Boof! Yo!! Boof! Can you get the door?"
The only other voice in the house was the one on TV, so with a grunt, he sat up and cast the fleece throw off him and made his way to the door. He pulled the heavy door open to see a petite brunette's frame attempting to retreat.
"Vi?" Bam queried. "Yo. You trynna ding-dong ditch me or some shit?"
Violet sighed at his question, 'if only things were that simple,' she thought before turning to face Bam. "No, I was just looking to see if you were outside. The place seems eerily quiet, has something happened?" Violet was scared that she interrupted something important of if there was a row or if it was just her over worrying about things.
Bam raised a brow and stepped outside. He grabbed a pack of cigarettes out of his pajama pants pocket and lit one. "I just kicked everyone out for the day. So what's up? And what's up with the suitcases? You okay?"
Violet nodded in understanding, secretly glad that no one else is around. "Umm, I don't really know how to say this so I'm just going to say it straight. I got kicked out of my apartment and was staying at a friends but felt uncomfortable there, so I was hoping that I could maybe stay here until I can find my own place?" she asked, looking up at him as she bit her lip. "I promise I'll stay out of your way, I just need somewhere safe to sleep."
"What?" Bam asked, surprised at the turn of events in the Brit's life. "Yeah, you can stay here as long as you want," he replied without hesitation.
"What happened at your apartment? You throw a rager?"
Violet sighed in relief before enveloping him in a hug, "thank you," she said, before pulling away, pretending that didn't just happen.
She let out a laugh through her nose before lighting up her own fag, feeling a lot calmer. "/I/ wish, at least I would've gone out with a bang. Unfortunately, I couldn't keep up with the rent because my boss is a dick and decided to lower my pay. Speaking of," she said, pulling out her purse, "how much am I going to owe you?"
Bam hugged Violet, giving her a reassuring squeeze.
"Can your boss do that..? Cut your pay? You didn't sign a contract or some shit?" He queried. Bam had never worked a real job in his life, so many things about the regular workforce eluded him.
He dragged off his cigarette and took a step forward to grab one of Violet's suitcases for her. "Come on inside. Get you a drink. You don't owe me shit. But, uh, Novak's in rehab and his room is the only one open right now but you really don't wanna sleep in there. Who knows what he's done on that bed. So there's either the living room or my room. Nikki's got the other guest room..."
Bam stopped to scratch the side of his head. "You gonna be good staying in the house with my wife?"
"Yeah, I did but my boss cut the funding for my department and gave it to people who write things for Christmas because he doesn't think I'm worth it, but that's a rant for another time," she said, brushing it off.
"You sure I don't owe you? I don't want to be a burden..." she said, grabbing the other suitcase and following Bam in. "That's fine, I'll just sleep on the couch, I hope not to be here too long," she said with a smile, she wouldn't want to out stay her welcome.
Violet stopped at his words, "...wife? You-" she said, her words getting caught in her throat, "you're married?" she asked, hoping he was just joking around.
"That's fucked," the stuntman observed of Violet's work situation. "You mean gossip about celebrity Christmas parties aren't worth it to him? I'd think that's when some good shit goes down."
Bam gave Violet a dismissive look when she pressed about owing him. "I've taken friends in for less. Don't worry about it. At least you have a legit reason and not just because your name is Novak and you've been kicked outta somewhere else /again/ for being a junkie derelict."
He looked at The brunette as though he was surprised she didn't know he was married. "Yeah. We're separated. Haven't even fucked in weeks. I'm letting her stay here because she doesn't have anywhere else to go right now. I'm an asshole, but I'm not just gonna leave her homeless."
Bam made his way to the fridge as he explained. He pulled the door open and reached for a beer, holding one out as a wordless offer.
"That is basically what I said. I think he hates me because he found out I'm trying to get my articles in The Times and he's punishing me for it however he can. I'll just have to do some more music stuff for a while," she replied with a shrug, making a mental note to ask for the wi-fi password soon to finish up some things.
"That's fine, I'll just hide it somewhere for you to find later," she said with a smile, "it's a British thing, just let me pay you back." Violet didn't like that Novak used him but she wasn't going to get in the way of their friendship.
Violet sighed in relief when he said that they were separated, that would've been an extremely awkward situation. Taking the beer, Violet thanked Bam and pulled out her keys, using the bottle opener and taking a sip. Closing her eyes, she tasted the alcohol, very glad that he offered, "I needed that," she said with a smile before leaning against the counter. "So, how long have you been separated?" she questioned, before taking another sip from the bottle.
Bam shrugged. "If you wanna cover more rock and metal, I can hook you up with press passes."
"Seriously, I don't need it. You can help me out with something else. I'll figure it out later," Bam half argued.
He looked thoughtful when Violet asked how long he'd been separated from Nikki. "A few weeks. Like a month, maybe?"
"That would be absolutely /amazing/ if you could. I'd be eternally grateful and bring you something back from each one." 'How is he so nice?' she thought, 'I'd hate for someone to barge in on me on one of my quiet days. Maybe I am stuck up...'
"Okay, I'll help out with chores and things for now," she said in reply, not wanting to annoy him already.
"So we were fucking when you two were still together?" she asked with a pained expression, she didn't like where this was going.
"Yeah, no worries," Bam shrugged with a half smile.
"You can make sure the cats have food. How's that?" He returned as though that were sufficient payment.
Bam scratched as his jaw when pressed about his marital status. "Yeah, I guess. But Nikki was already fucking someone else then too so it's not a huge deal."
Violet smiled appreciatively, "thank you," she said, she was thanking him a lot recently.
Rolling her eyes, she said, "fine." It didn't seem enough to her but it would have to do for now.
"You could've at least told me," she said, crossing her arms. Violet and Bam weren't a couple but she at least had some feelings for him and this complicated things for her even further. Taking a moment to collect her thoughts, Violet played with the top of her bottle. "It's a big deal to me if I'm one of the reasons you're separated," she ran her fingers through her hair, becoming more stressed, "and if you only used me to get back at her, then that's wrong and you know it," she replied.
"I seriously don't see why it matters. My marriage has nothing to do with you. The reason we're splitting up doesn't either, so relax," Bam insisted, his voice hitching slightly with irritation.
"It matters to me since we started this when you two were together. It's against my morals and I don't want to be a homewrecker, Bam." Violet said firmly. "Ever thought how I'd feel about it?" she asked, taking an angry swig of her beer before trying to calm down, she needed to stay on Bam's good side but things didn't seem to be going her way lately.
Bam rolled his eyes. "You're not a home wrecker, Violet. My marriage is ending because of me and Nikki. Don't give yourself so much credit."
Violet didn't know whether to be offended or reassured. Lifting her chin up, and standing straight, she popped her lips before shifting her weight from side to side. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't assume things. Can you show me to where I'm staying, please?" she asked.
"Don't trip," Bam assured the writer. "But you gotta know I like you, it's just... I still do my own thing, irregardless of that."
He then reached for the bottle of Woodford's whiskey off the counter and poured himself a glass on the rocks before leading the way to the living room.
"I can set up a bed out here for you. You don't gotta sleep on the couch. Or you can sleep up in my room with me," he explained, punctuating the thought with a lecherous grin and wink.
Violet noticed that Bam kept saying he liked her but she wasn't sure about her feelings and didn't want to talk about his feelings about her until she at least had an idea herself so most of the time she just glossed over it and filed it away. "That's cool, we're not together so I don't really care about that. Do whatever or whoever you want and I'll do the same," she said with a shrug.
Violet followed Bam into the living room and laughed at his suggestion, "I doubt that's a good idea when your wife is living under the same roof. So if you could set up a bed for me, that would be great."
"Yeah that sounds good," Bam replied dismissively. He was done with that discussion.
"You know you have like, zero privacy down here, right? That includes a fuck ton of randoms..." He raised a brow as if to suggest her sanity was questionable.
Violet looked at the area around of her, "you have a very good point. I guess I could sleep on the floor in your room," she suggested with a shrug.
Bam all but guffawed at Violet's suggestion to sleep on the floor in his room. "If you're in my room, you're in my bed. I'm not tripping over your ass when I try to get up or some shit."
Violet put her hand on her hip, "you just want me to sleep in your bed, don't you?" she asked with a light teasing tone.
Bam bobbed his brows and sipped off his beer. "Come on. Up stairs."
Violet rolled her eyes, "fine," she said before smirking as she followed Bam to his... their? room, knowing that she was right.
"Alright, this is the one room in the house not everyone is allowed in," he explained while punching in the code on the locked keypad. "Code's the same as the gate, but reversed."
The bed was unmaid, clothes seemed to surround the hamper, but not make it actually inside, and remnants of anything Bam had snacked on in his room seemed to pile on the end tables and dresser.
"Sorry it's a little messy."
Violet nodded in understanding, making a mental note of the code. "Do I have to lock it each time I leave or is it automatic?" she questioned, knowing Bam liked his privacy.
Violet walked in and dropped her suitcases near the door, "it's fine, I don't mind at the moment. I doubt you were expecting anyone over so I didn't expect anything." Violet wrapped her arms around his neck, "thank you for this, I really appreciate it," she commented with a smile before kissing his lips.
"It'll lock automatically. I had to make sure it did for when Novak stays here," Bam answered. "Junkie already jacks my shit left and right; I'm sure as shit not letting him get to my actual valuable shit."
Bam slipped his hands around Violet's waist and returned the kiss. He then began to inch her back toward the bed until he could shove her back onto it. Instead of act seductively, Bam proceeded to aggressively hump the brunette playfully.
Violet nodded, "that makes sense, at least no one will be able to get in, compared to the living room it's ultimate privacy." Violet smiled before having a thought, "I hope Novak doesn't steal any of my stuff, I need all my stuff," she replied with raised eyebrows.
Violet walked backwards as they continued to kiss before she was pushed onto the bed.
Slightly confused, Violet laughed at Bam's actions, "what are you doing?" she said, her body shaking from the laughter. Calming herself down a little, she continued his charade before letting out some frequent, annoyingly high-pitched, fake moans, before biting her lip, "fuck me, Bam!" she screamed, with less enthusiasm as she rolled her eyes, before laughing again.
"Actually, I made sure I started locking it after some minging stalker bitch came into my room and woke me up by kissing me. Nikki was asleep next to me and I thought it was her, but she was on the wrong side. Then I see this silhouette of some naked chick and when I turned on the light, she laid down on the floor and started fingering her pussy. I was like 'Who are you?' and she goes 'The owls sent me from Jupiter!'" Bam rapidly explained. "But don't worry. Novak is banned from my room forever."
Bam blatantly slid a hand up Violet's shirt and gave one of her breasts a squeeze. "All you had to do was say so!"
Violet furrowed her eyebrows and widened her eyes at Bam's weird and confusing story, imagining the situation and extremely glad that Bam had decided put a lock on the door.
Violet laughed at Bam's reply before giving him a peck on the lips. "Come and help me unpack," she said with a smile before trying to sit up.
Bam snorted a laugh. "Help you unpack? Your hands broken or some shit?"
He sat up and headed for the door. "I'm gonna go get another drink. Just throw your shit in the closet."
Violet shrugged, 'it was worth a try,' she thought before sliding off the bed. Opening the wardrobe, she found that it would be hard to walk around but there was space for her to put her things.
Unzipping her suitcase, she was glad she kept things on hangers as she was in a rush, it would be easier to put things away. Violet lent back, looking through the opening Bam had left, "you sure you don't wanna see my underwear?" she called to him, hoping that might convince the skater to help.
"I wanna see you out of them!" he hollered as he made his way downstairs. Bam wanted no part in helping anyone organize their things.
Truthfully, he was glad to have Violet around. He just hoped there wouldn't be any drama between her and his wife. Nikki knew Bam would do whoever he wanted, but Violet wasn't as familiar with his ways when it came to sex and dating.
'Fine,' Violet thought as she rolled her eyes before taking her things out and dumping it wherever there was any space.
Violet hoped this would work out, she didn't want to burden Bam and ruin their relationship, however she had a roof over her head, a bed and easy wifi access, that was all she needed for now.
That reminded the columnist that she needed to submit a story before her deadline so she sat on the bed and loaded up her laptop whilst she waited for Bam to come back.
The skater had no intention of returning to his room and instead retrieved himself another beer and flopped back down on the couch. Bam still wanted his personal time to recharge from his otherwise nonstop life. Just as he settled down, his phone began to go off on the coffee table in front of him.
Bam reached for it and saw the one name he'd always pick up for no matter what. "Yo. What're you up to?" he asked into the receiver.
Violet became distracted by the internet, researching things and telling people she was safe, that was until she started to feel hungry. She didn't want to bother Bam since there must've been a reason that he kicked everyone out so she just continued, until her stomach actually started rumbling. Sighing, she pushed herself off the bed and made her way downstairs. She could hear Bam talking to someone on the phone so she tapped him on the shoulder and waited for him to acknowledge her.
Bam felt the tap on his shoulder and turned his head while speaking into the phone. "Sky, hang on a sec," he said before turning his focus to Violet. "Sup?"
"Where's the nearest grocers, I wanna get some stuff for lunch," she said, not wanting to eat his food without permission.
"Uh, it's about eight miles into town. I'm heading out here in a bit, so I can pick something up on the way back. But help yourself to whatever's in there if you're hungry. Ape brought some leftover pot roast that she made," Bam answered casually before addressing the phone again. "Sky, I'll be over soon. Try not to fight with your mom anymore and pack a bag to stay the night."
"Potroast sounds good, thanks," she said with a smile before making her way to the kitchen. Violet took in what he said to the person on the phone but didn't say anything, she'll most likely meet them if they're staying over so she opened the fridge and got on with making a sandwich.
~TIME SKIP~
[Violet] Maybe I should actually buy some decent vodka, I might not end up so hungover
[Violet] I think I'm going to have to borrow your sunglasses
Bam: why the fuck are you buying cheap vodka anyway? My mom uses shit like that on her furniture.
Bam: don't you have you own sunglasses?
[Violet] Do you want to buy me good vodka because I would really appreciate it right now. I stood on them when I was dancing last night...
[bam] Do I want to buy you vodka? What's in it for me?
[Violet] The feel good feeling of helping out a friend in need, my gratitude, and presence. Maybe a hug.
[bam] funny I didn't have charity work on my schedule today
[Violet] Hey, you're Mr. I Will Always Have More Money Than You, I'm sure you could spare.
[Violet] What do you want for it, no sexual favors. You wouldn't want me like this anyway
[Bam] look lady, I like you ok. And I'm pretty sure you like me too. But if it's only because of my money then I think I'll bow out of what is obviously going to be my 3rd divorce.
[Violet] Hey, I was only joking, I didn't mean to upset you. I'll make some Reverse Moonshine when I get home.
[Violet] I'm sorry, I'm just not used to having friends with money and when we met you were bragging about having so much so I figured you didn't care and
[Violet] You know what, forget I said anything. I'm sorry.
[bam] yeah I brag. It's fun. But I've had so many people use me irregardless of if I brag or not that I gotta be careful either way
[Violet] Now I know.
[Violet] Are we still on for tomorrow?
[bam] What was tomorrow?
[Violet] We were gonna go skateboarding
[bam] yeah just come over and we'll hit up my skate barn. Don't worry, I'll have booze.
[Violet] I haven't skated in years so I'm going to be rusty; the booze will be very interesting
[bam] don't care if you suck. I just wanna see you try an Ollie.
[Violet] I used to be able to ollie but I'm not sure if I can now
[bam] it'll come back to you. Don't stress.
[Violet] Why did I agree to this? I'll be with professionals and then there's me - 'I can do an ollie.... maybe.'
[Bam] we all sucked at one point too. If you're lucky, maybe I'll help you out.
[Violet] Let's hope tomorrow is my lucky day ;)
[bam] you never know 😬
[Violet] I suppose we shall have to wait and see. See you tomorrow.
