It was her birthday or maybe it was his.
It didn’t matter to the two of them because they had drunk too much alcohol in a short period of time, leaving the two to stumble home late. Usually the pair would head to their separate homes, but her house was too far away and in a rare show of solidarity, both of her parents were home.
So, she followed him to his apartment, laughing all the while at the dumb jokes he was telling her. She couldn’t even remember how they had ended up in his apartment sprawled out on the couch, roaring with laughter.
She pressed her lips against his, almost fitting them against his in the proper way, but still missing. “I love you, Phillip Coulson.”
