And then you're zooming out the door, equipping the mascarachete as you go. You can't really tell if you're running or flying or some weird combination of the two, but the point is you're heading straight for Jade, straight for certain death no matter how this turns out, at as high a speed as you can. 

You see no point in drawing this out, and swing the blade at her throat the moment you're close enough.

She's faltering now, and it doesn't matter whether it's a result of your efforts or something larger. All that matters is beating her.

Bolts fly from your crossbow, and you hope beyond hope that one of them will strike true. All you need is to see them strike, hear the impact, watch her fall--

It's fruitless, you can tell.

With a deep breath, you concentrate, calling on the powers that Rose showed you. You've let the Void guide you through this fight. Now, you have to make one demand of it.

It gleefully obliges.

Your body fades away, overcome by darkness, and your eyes glow a fearsome yellow. Opaque and translucent at once, you've reached the limits of your power.

You are the dark made manifest, the Heir of Void, and you charge to tackle the Handmaid then.

She fires, and you feel like you've been dipped in magma. The proximity of the blast nips at your clothes, licks your skin--

--but the Void doesn't falter, and it pulls you away from the scene.

You make a note to thank Rose for the books she gave you.

The darkness of the Void begins to replenish your strength, but as you push to bring yourself back to the fight, there's resistance. You hear whispers of concern, of fear; if you continue, you may never come back.

You ignore them.

You find yourself crouching in the desert again, crossbow at the ready.

Terezi's cornered. Handmaid is going in for the killing blow.

No time to push her. No time to send a robot.

You kick off from the ground, barreling straight towards Terezi as she yells. The air in front of you parts, dissipates, removing all friction as you fly. Nothing blocks your path, save the person you're trying to save.

An instant before you collide, the Void swallows you. In that same instant it spits you out directly to the left of the Handmaid. You slam into her and can't help but grin.

If you knew what fighting games were, you'd be screaming 'psycho crusher!' right about now.

Your scouts go offline. You blink, and there's a tree bearing down on you.

You don't think. You jump, crossing your arms over your head. Cold air bites at your face and you shut your eyes as you feel wood splitting, hear a thunderous crack.

The tree explodes as you burst through it, splinters raining to the ground. Your arc carries you high over the Handmaid; considering you haven't evaporated yet, you're guessing that the Aradias are doing their job.

The Void comes to you before you hit the ground and whisks you away. You materialize at the back of the property, far away from the skirmish. An electronic command sends another three of your machines fanning out across the front.

You've lasted more than a minute, so you think you're doing pretty good.

Your glasses catch the glow of her arrival, and you know that it's time.

You leap, feet finding purchase in the rafters of the mansion, where you can watch uninterrupted. Three robots dash forward, sprinting towards the source of the light. You know they won't stop her.
