EVO 2012
Man, this was such a great year for Evolution Championship Series. Had a lot of good players and such a good community. There were a couple boos here and there, but still a community that is so diverse and one that never seems to break out a fight. They all love one thing and that is fighting games. I was streaming EVO for 3 days straight, i never watched fighting games as much as i did watching EVO. While watching, i could tell there is a lot of drama between the top players and the country they are representing. It's always like that between any kind of fighting matches in general such as boxing and etc.; they want to show who's the strongest in the world. A never ending cycle of drama to be the best there is. There were some upsets in who i wanted to win, but still an amazing and entertaining sight to see. All the intense fights were worth watching.
Winners of EVO:
Super Street Fighter 4 (Arcade Edition): WW (Western Wolves) MCZ (MadCatz) | Infiltration
Ulimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3: col.CC | FilipinoChamp
King of Fighters XIII: Cafe ID | Mad KOF
And it's over.
Holy shit, that was an experience.
I mean, as much of an experience as you can have being a stream monster, but seriously, as a whole, Evo was a lot of fun to watch. My favorites didn't win (except for KOF, sort of; I love Mad KOF to death but I wanted BALA to become the official KOF Overlord), but I ended watching something great every day, even in games I don't usually watch! Top 32 of Street Fighter was the best SF I've ever seen, KOF in general was amazing and grand finals was fucking transcendent, Marvel had great moments (and Chris G got third!), and hey, I even had fun watching Soul Calibur (it's always cool to see low tier win, and I like Tira anyway).
I kinda feel like I don't know what to do with myself now; Evo has literally taken over my entire weekend (I even engulfed a friend into it!).
...oh wait, people told me the ST tournament was crazy, guess I gotta go back and watch that too!
But seriously, this was a really great experience, and what I really should do is get my broke ass back in the emulator and try one more time to pick up one of the older KOFs or ST or something.
